So chance me! Bowdoin (ED and not), Columbia (ED and not), American, Haverford, Northwestern, Emory, UW, UIllinois

Strong profile. That math score is going to kill you, though. If you could bring it up I think you would have a much stronger shot at all your schools. I’d say Bowdoin is a reach both ED and not. ED doesn’t improve your chances–the acceptance rate is higher because the strongest applicants usually apply there. If I were you I would apply ED to Columbia. With legacy, it shows you really want to go there and is probably one of the strongest on your list. Northwestern is a reach as well as Emory. Others are matches/safety. Emory is more of a match too.

Good Luck!!

thanks! bump for other replies

I think even as a legacy, not being in the top 10% and a low math score will make Columbia unlikely unless you’re a development legacy (big donor). I’d try Bowdoin ED and ED is a boost there.

update! turns out my weighted gpa is 4.33 and my weighted class rank is 13/198. does that change your opinions?

bumpppppppp

Apply ED to Columbia. Legacy status can be a deal breaker if things are close. So can doing a campus visit – DO ONE. I think you’ve got a decent shot even with your current math score. If you can improve it, it will only help. Be careful that your scores don’t drop in CR or writing though.
