I've mixed and mangled with all religions, races and cultures in DC.

Mother owns a home business selling books, so I help her and I have acess to over 10,000 books in my apartment.

I live in da ghetto, where my academic achievements are ridiculed.

*Academics:
Wonderful recommendation from my spanish teacher, a Columbia graduate, about to go to harvard law school next year. Recommendation from math teacher, football coach and Guidance counselor. I got recommendations from almost every other teacher, but those are the ones that counted.

I took the hardest classes in my school. Only AP Class I didn't take were AP Art history, AP chemistry (It was ap chem, or ap bio with lab), and AP Calculus (it was AP Calc, or AP Stat).

Only had 2 Cs in my high school life. One was in algebra 2 because I transferred classes 3 times and one of my teacher did not submit any work I gave her, so the highest I could get was 66% (my math teacher told me I deserved an A, but I couldn't work the system). The other was because my teacher go sick for 6 months and the substitute submitted grades, a C or an E (:<).

All my AP Tests were free, however out of the 50 students that took the test I took, I was the only one to actually do the essays. I'm serious. Every other student (except 2) were on their cell phone or sleeping. This shows you how my school treats education.

Passed the HSA for Algebra and Geometry in the 8th grade. Took french in elementary school for 8 years. Took spanish for 2.

I'm good at selling things, you can call me a mini entrepreneur.

With all this money I make, I spend it on SAT prep courses and booklets, retaking AP Exams, and I'm saving so I have enough to send my application to around 20 colleges. Sucks having no money, but you can see, I make the best out of a tough situation.

*Hardships in life: I had to deal with domestic abuse problems as a kid. My father told me to join the military because he had no interest in paying for my college. I live in a bad neighborhood and have been gang jumped numerous times, just for walking on the street. I'm trying to get out of here, seriously.

what the ****

I dont know what to say…

What’s wrong?

you have some of the weirdest and random things i have ever seen…

underground boxing?
DVD bootlegging?
We really dont need to know about anything illegal you have done…

But then again, you come off as a very unique person that has come from a challenged background, you have a great shot at the ivies/stanford

heard of quest bridge? you should try that if your parents income is less than 60k

Now that i see you are both black and native American…that is a double URM whammy…you are pretty much in everywhere you apply

You need to take SAT II for ivies, so take those, and if your SAT is good, then you are in everywhere due to your unprecedented level of uniqueness

Yes I’ve vaguely heard of questbridge, but I have to talk to my guidance counselor about it friday. I’ll edit my post out with the illegal stuff if you didn’t find it appropriate.

Thank you ib612. Do I have to take the ACT? And also does the SAT 2 cost money and how many should I do? I was thinking of around 3, but I have to study for them of course.

The other C was in fitness (which I am note sure if gym/fitness really count on my total GPA), I’m trying my best for a grade change, but is hard. I know others have 5.90393942 GPAs but my school does GPA weighing with aps/honors lower than most other schools

Would I look bad if I took the SAT IIs in Math 1 and Literature/US History? I’m not too good at math or science so I’ll try my best. Do I have to get in the 700s just to have a shot? I know others have a million other standardized tests under their belt, but SAT prep around here is in the thousands. I’m trying my best to get it now.

Also it’s not a big deal if I don’t get in ivies now, most likely I can get a scholarship from university of maryland full ride and transfer to stanford in a couple of years.

Writing your applications, you might want to tone your attitude down a bit. You come off as fairly arrogant in some of what you wrote [e.g B.**]

Wow craziest profile I have read.

170 PSAT is the highest at your school? That is rather preposterous. Furthermore PSAT scores are usually where your SAT scores hover around. With that said, I extremely doubt the fact you got a 2100 on your first test.
I really don’t think you will get into any Ivy League schools, based off your arrogance and dubious profile.
Come back with some tangible scores and prove me wrong.

Transferring to Ivies is also extremely unlikely and almost more difficult than general

Are you black or indian? I honestly can’t tell. One is a ORM while the other is a URM. For admission purposes it would be advantageous if you said you were a URM.

You certainly have a unique profile though.

I had a 1700 psat because I didn’t fill in half of the math section, thus I got 650-700s on the english and writing and 400 on math. Like I said, my school is one of the worst in the whole state, education is made lightly of.

I’m a black/native american, double URM.

I’m only arrogant in my writing, which I am confident in. I would obviously not write like this on an admissions profile, this is the internet, and I write different on a message board than in real life.

Dubious? Nah. What is there to lie about? The only thing I predicted was my GPA (Because of my upward trend from sophmore to now) and my SATs. I will tell you my SAT scores on the 25th. The highest SAT from a senior was 1850 this year, and the highest from a junior was 1620. I am not lying, and why the hell would I waste 20+ minutes writing my profile to lie to a bunch of strangers?

Thanks though for the help, I was unaware of the importance of the SAT Subject tests (it gets no mention at my school). I will try to study for them and take 2-3 before I apply to any school. It is not imperative that I go to an ivy, I’d like to go to Stanford, however I would still enjoy going to Uva, or Univeristy of Maryland.

Please post your SAT scores when you get them the 25th.

I am intrigued to see if they are as good as you predict.

It would also make chancing easier.

I agree with IntangibleGator, knowing your SAT scores will help a lot
And as for taking the SAT IIs it sounds like you can definitely get the cost waived- I think they’re $45/test, and you can take up to 3 in one sitting, but based on your profile I’m pretty sure you qualify for a waiver
While your scores are low for someone applying to the schools you mentioned, the URM hooks are good, and you sound like you’ve had an interesting life- make that come across big time in your essays and I’d say you have very good chances  GL!

I’m sorry if you thought my post was arrogant. I like to use humor and daftness to get through serious messages. I can only guess what my SATs are now so it is not much help to you. But I have 500 saved up for a summer course, and I only need 600 more to pay for a class. I will retake them until I get +700 for each section and 2200 total. If y’all think that speculation and prediction will do no use for collegeconfidential, I can just have this thread closed for a week.

One last question though, can I take the SAT 2s any time I want, and does Stanford care if you retook the SATs to superscore? I’m sorry for the amount of questions, my guidance counselor is not very helpful in these regards.

Its alright, if its any consolation you didnt come across as more arrogant/annoying as most of the guys I know :stuck_out_tongue: Anyways, you should plan on taking the SAT IIs the next time they offer them, which I think is early next fall? Try looking through [:: College Planning Made Easy | Inside Source for College Admissions Requirements](http://www.collegeboard.com), they’re the people who run it and have dates/study info/etc.
I’m not clear on superscoring, but I’m pretty sure you can’t mix/match scores. I would just take the SATs and send your highest score.
Honestly…classes dont help that much and they’re a waste of money, imo :frowning: I studied on my own and scored a 2390, and that was with prep books (free, checked out from the library) and 8 hours every day studying :stuck_out_tongue: Since you’re going to be a senior, and college apps are due in January, you probably have about 2 chances left to take the SATs and SAT IIs, so I’d get on that.

You have a cool story. Saving up money so you can pay for your own SAT class is something you should include on your resume.

A URM status and even a 2100+ SAT score should be enough for a decent amount of upper tier schools.

I thought most decent colleges don’t except Math 1 subject test no longer. I think you have to take the Math II subject test to get credit for that particular subject test.

I was thinking that if I couldn’t get the SAT scores I needed, I could take one year off high school, live with my close friends (long story, parents are moving out to another country next year) and prepare for that year and enter college late. I am note sure if this is possible, can someone fill me in?

Also fuzzy, if you think that courses are a waste of time, would it be better to spend on some SAT DVDs and Books? My main weakness is geometry and graphing so I’d focus on those. The Closest library is like 20 miles away, so getting to the library to borrow books is outta the question.

Buy the The Official SAT Guide, a big blue book. That thing has 10 tests and will really help.
