You seem like an outstanding person. The only thing I would say for you is to definitely get that ACT score up in the 34-35 range just to be safe for a school like Brown. What do your essays/recs look like right now?

Getting your ACT up would make for a stronger application, but a 34 or 35 (or even a 36) would still put you as a reach (no such thing as “safe” for Brown or any highly selective schools). URM will help, and ED will help (unclear by how much – don’t go by the simple difference in admissions rates between ED and RD, they don’t account for athletic recruits, super hooks like children of major donors or famous people and the generally superior applicant pool in ED vs RD). If you decide ED, can your family afford Brown because you will be stuck to a large extent with whatever FA they determine for you if you get accepted.
