I’m not an admissions officer, but I think you would certainly stand a shot at acceptance. I don’t necessarily think it’s a likely school, however, so make sure you have a balanced list of schools to apply to (including schools that meet all of the following criteria: affordable, extremely likely to accept you, and that you’d be happy to attend).
I had spoken to one of the athletic coaches at Bucknell during my recruiting process and did a pre-read of my academics. For reference I have a 33 ACT and 3.86 GPA (4.35 weighted). I also took 9 AP classes in high school, had 125+ volunteer hours, and was in NHS on top of competitive/travel athletics. The academic department said I shouldn’t have trouble being accepted. I don’t know if requirements are different whether you’re going the athletic route or not, but hopefully this can help someone! Best of luck to all of you!
What is your EFC? If you are not full pay but high EFC, then I’d say you have a decent chance assuming you are applying for a biology type major? I’d say a solid match if you are full pay.
EFC < $25K, Id’ say low chance.
About 60% of last year’s freshman class was admitted with an UW gpa under 3.8. Almost 20% of that class were admitted with no test scores. Although admissions are getting more competitive everywhere every year, I think that your gpa puts you in a favorable position on that basis.
Rigor of high school course work is very important to Bucknell. I don’t know from your post how many AP’s et al that you have, so I’ll just note that it’s a factor. They also put a lot of emphasis on your essay and on extracurriculars.
Although their acceptance rate for this year’s freshman class was 33%, if you’re not applying for their engineering school, then I think it’s a little less competitive.
