You’re Perfect. Keep me updated

If you’re legacy at Rice and UMich you can’t be a first-gen student

You will hear from your remaining schools tomorrow. It’s just one more day. Try to get your mind off of admissions. Just hang in there a day and you’ll know.

Good luck! You already have several good acceptances.

sorry, meant first gen American, not student

Ok, got it. But it’s not a hook for college admissions.

First, congratulations to the impressive acceptances you already “bagged”! Some waitlists (like Fordham) might result from seeing you as someone who might be accepted into more selective schools and be able afford to attend them. So don’t read too much into it.

Basically, by tomorrow evening virtually all of your remaining ones will be on the table (one of them tonight at 7) – but… chances for each of those are <10%, for everyone. One of them could still come through, but there are no ways for anyone to objectively predict that.

FWIW, what was your U/W GPA, and did you submit standardized tests?

With respect to your interest in public policy, this site may help you with narrowing your choices as your decisions arrive:

How can you be first generation to college (usually defined as no parent with a bachelor’s degree, but sometimes other ways like no parent with any college attendance) while also being a legacy at two colleges?

Assuming you can afford them, Smith, W&M, UMass Amherst, UT Austin, Trinity, and Sewanee are safeties, while Rice is out-of-reach, and Fordham and Northeastern and super high reaches.

Please note that the OP explained this in a subsequent post.

NO! Stop torturing yourself. You will know tomorrow. Go do something kind to yourself.

Update! I got rejected from Princeton, waitlisted at Yale, and accepted to Dartmouth! I will be attending in the fall

Congratulations to Dartmouth.
If I may ask, how did Barnard turn out the day prior?

I got waitlisted but it wasn’t my dream school, so it didn’t sting

Well, at least you’ll get Barnard’s president
