Chance Me CCC to UC Berkeley

Hey guys!

New to CC and have been seeing a lot of these posts. Was hoping someone could chance me for transfer to UC’s (specifically Berkeley, although I’m applying to almost all) from California community college. I will be applying for transfer Fall 2017 for admission Fall 2018.

Major: Molecular & Cell Biology Emphasis on Cell & Developmental Biology (I am Pre-Med)
Transferable GPA: 3.49 (two more semesters though, should be 3.58)
IGETC: Complete in Fall 2017
TAP: Yes
By Spring 2018, I’ll be graduating with Biological Sciences, A.S., Health Sciences, A.A., and Chemistry, A.A. with 105 units (three years) and completed all major transfer requirements.

ECs/Work:

  • Honors Program, Phi Theta Kappa, Psi Beta Psych Honors Society
  • President of Pharmacy and Health Club, Secretary for Pre-Medical Society
  • Student Ambassador
  • Four research publications
  • Worked at In-N-Out Burger for 1.5 years (seems silly, but taught me a lot)
  • Licensed Pharmacy Technician for CVS/Pharmacy
  • Licensed Emergency Medical Technician
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician
  • Certified in Patient Care from UCLA Field School of Public Health
  • Health Scholar at Hoag Hospital for 1.5 years

My first two semesters at CCC I didn’t have the greatest GPA, but then I pulled myself together, identified my weaknesses, and started plowing through. Please chance me and let me know what else I can do. I know a lot of you are awaiting decisions so I wish you all luck. Thanks!

Doesn’t look too bad, only thing that would be of worry is that GPA. Keep in mind which majors are impacted, I would try to at MINIMUM keep your current GPA. However, UCB does notoriously weigh heavily on the essays. Otherwise, this looks good man! Apply for UCLA too :stuck_out_tongue:

@fancraze @Gumbymom Thanks for the info and the replies. My GPA is something of concern however I have a clear upward trend and I am truly passionate about the major and subject I am applying for. I have two research publications in our peer-reviewed school journal as well as a third research publication in the UCI Transfer Council Journal. I am working on getting a publication in a peer-reviewed journal that is much bigger, and my research is in the field of cell biology.Furthermore, I looked into my GPA more and if my upward trend continues I should be applying with a 3.58 and leaving CC with a 3.65. Hope that makes a difference !
