Hi I’m applying civil engineering for the following California schools:
UCD, UCI, UCSD, UCSB, UCR, UCB, UCM, Cal Poly Pomona, CSULB, SDSU. What are my chances? Thanks!
UW GPA: 3.67 CSU/UC GPA: 3.91
ACT: 30
Eng: 34
Math: 29
Read: 28
Sci: 27
Lots of EC’s. (Over 1500 hours combined)
Expand on ECs? You can have over 1500 hours combined but if all you’re doing is volunteering at the library, that won’t be very beneficial. Your GPA and ACT score make Berkeley a reach, Davis and SD somewhat at the higher spectrum, Irvine, SB, Riverside, Merced, Santa Barbara, a somewhat competitive chance, Cal Poly Pomona, good chance depending on the major. Good chance at Long Beach as well.
Your GPA is just a bit under most of the mid-tier UC’s averages. Your ACT is pretty average for an engineering major so I would say:
UCB: Big reach
UCLA: Big reach
UCSD: Reach
UCSB: High Match
UCI: High Match
UCR: Safety
UCM; Safety
CSU schools: All safeties for you.
If you had a 4.0+ GPA then most mid UC’s would be matches for you, but for now I would say they are a bit difficult
