Early Decision II</p>

<p>3.688 Unweighted GPA at a private, all-boys high school in Washington, D.C.</p>

<p>2 AP's Junior year (Spanish and Environmental Science)</p>

Independent Tutorial in English (a self-taught class; appears on my report card.)</p>

Spanish Subject Test-720</p>

<p>Lots of extracurriculars (leadership in several activities)</p>

countless hours in a local soup kitchen

Third Place in school-wide speech contest
Diploma from foreign language school in Madrid

<p>Wrote my Common App essay about a junior internship at a foreign policy think-tank in D.C.</p>

<p>Passionate essays, and great references (teacher who wrote my rec was just praised in the Washington Post)

<p>It’s going to be a bit of a reach for you, cause your academics are slightly out of range for NYU. Applying ED does help and it looks like you have some very good extracirriculars. It’s really all going to come down to your essays. I’ll say it’s a low reach for you. Good luck!</p>

<p>You’re definitely in. The UW is actually a little above the average for NYU and SAT’s are decent. The EDII will help a lot. EC’s seem typical of NYU applicants as well. Only thing that might hurt a little bit is the rigor of course load unless that is the max amount of AP’S your school allows you to take.</p>

<p>Yeah I agree with ThegreatSG, if your school only offers a certain amount of APs, I think you’ll be fine but your “rigor of the course load” is not the best. However, your scores are pretty goood! and exrtracurriculars are pretty awesome. I think you definitely have a shot because even though your courses are the hardest level, you have an awesome SAT & great subject test scores! Good luck!

<p>I’d give you a 6/10 because of your gpa. It’s not that great, but, your ec’s and essay should carry you past other applicants, into NYU. You have a 1290/1600 which would translate into a 1940 with no writing, which is about 100 points below avg, but it shouldnt look bad compared to the rest of your curriculum.</p>

<p>I agree with everyone else. High match/low reach just because of your GPA. If you’re essays are amazing? You’ll be fine. =D</p>

<p>I agree with above poster, low reach b/c of academics however make essays good and recs good! I would say High Match because of ED</p>

<p>GPA isn’t honestly the best, and SAT scores seem pretty average. ECs are good, but not great. Definitely low reach, if not better. Just keep your fingers crossed!</p>
