Can someone please chance me???
I’m looking to transfer from University of Washington Bothell to Chapman University (Dodge College of Film and Media Arts), specifically to the TV Writing and Production major. I’m a freshman at UW Bothell and have only been here for one quarter so far. My main concern is that my first quarter GPA is very low (2.73), due to several personal reasons. My high school GPA is a 3.65, and I got a 31 on the ACT.
My creative resume is pretty good.
I’m still trying to decide what to put as my 5-7 things on my creative resume, but here are some of the things I’m likely going to put on there:
–I made a couple short films in 2019 with my friend who just got accepted into chapman that got into the all-american high school film festival (I wrote and directed one and acted in and assistant directed the other),
–I wrote and directed several plays that my high school Honors Drama class put on
–I directed my high school’s production of The Secret Garden as well as designing the sets and costuming
–I was the founder and President of my high school’s filmmaking club my senior year
–I was my high school’s theatre department liason
–I currently do stand up comedy weekly at the laugh factory in Seattle
I have some other things I could put on there, but those are just off the top of my head.
I’m also flying to Anaheim next week for a transfer appointment and tour at Chapman, which will hopefully show them that I’m very dedicated and that I want to go there really badly.
Two more possible positives for admissions are that I am able to pay the tuition without financial aid (they say they have a “needs-blind” admittance process, but I’m not sure how true that is considering they’re a small private college), and I’m planning on getting very good grades this quarter (the quarter ends March 20th).
TL;DR-- I got a 2.75 gpa for my first quarter of college, looking to transfer to chapman dodge for tv writing and production, I have a 3.65 high school gpa and got a 31 on the ACT
