I don't know if it means anything, but I'm in my advanced math program at my school (as if BC Calc in junior year didn't give it away). Next year i'll be taking Multivar calc.

Chance me for:
NYU Stern (yea i'm into finance/math)
CMU (tepper)
Columbia SEAS
Brown
uPenn (Dream!!!)

Yea i know the ivies are quite stretches... but w/e a kid can dream... :P

Upward trend in GPA essentially.. I rly didn't care about school in frosh/early soph year.. The notion that i had to do well kinda kicked in a little late.

Also i prlly forgot some ECs...

K thanks all and if you need me to chance you just post a link.
Bye :D

o and btw if i forgot any crucial info just let me know and I'll post it

everything looks really good. I think all you need to do is get your GPA up, though you probably already know that. Try to get some hands on business experience and more business related things (even try for an internship). Get the essays down and I think you have an excellent chance for stern. Don’t know about Columbia, Brown or Upenn though. sorry. I make my judgements based off the caliber of students that make it from my school.

Thanks fdsjaif. Anyone else have any input?

I don’t know if its worth mentioning, but I have about 10 years training in Indian Hindustani Classical music and Bengali Rabindrasangeet.

It would be helpful if someone said how I’m doing for the other colleges (and what I should do to get a better shot at them).

Thanks again.

Bump

bump 10char

uPenn is a stretch. Others should be fine, especially if you go to a competitive school. Your GPA is low for some schools like uPenn and maybe CMU, but it is by no means low.

Wait even brown/columbia?

Oh btw I go to prolly the most competitive school in massachusetts. Also, I am a 1800 rated chess player and represent my school thru our chess team

If I were to apply ED to any of these schools, which one should I do?

If it helps, my ranking of desire to go to these colleges:

 1. Wharton (uPenn)
 2. SEAS (Columbia)
 3. Stern (NYU)
 4. Brown
 5. Tepper (CMU)

Also, I’d like to throw MIT into the mix. I understand that I have a minimal chance of getting in (btw, would applying to their biz program - Sloan - reduce or increase my chances), but my dad went to Sloan for his biz degree (not undergrad… and yea i know that MIT doesn’t do legacy) and pretty much everyone who’s decent in math/sci applies there from my school (EA) just in the hope that they will get their .01% chance of getting in.

Other colleges I’ve been looking at -
USC (can i call this a safety?)
UCLA
UIUC (safety?)

Anywhere else I should think about applying? I’m rly looking for a finance/math major’s school (if you couldn’t tell :P)

Bumpzzz

Not to be rude, but this is a forum for discussing NYU – not other colleges. There are other forums on CC which aren’t school specific; you’ll find better information there.

Sorry about that >_<

I’d like to know what school you go to in MA, as I’m also a fellow high schooler. Basically outside of the ivies, you’re set. But even the best applicants to ivies can get rejected, so you can never tell.

Acton-Boxborough Regional High

Bump lol

That’s hilarious. I go to the same school as you! And I can now tell you that uPenn is a massive stretch for you (sorry.). My friend just checked his admission email (ED), and he got deferred, with a 4.7~, 2340 on the SATs, 3 varsity sports (swim, XC, track), and a bunch of other ECs such as student council president. furthermore, considering the GPA graphs, you’re looking at a pretty big reach for all of those schools.

Lol ik (that its a huge reach). I actually find it extremely funny that I’m meeting someone from my own school thru cc. Oh well. Maybe ill ED to nyu

If ion gets in ED maybe he can be cneogy’s NYU ED mentor!! :P

Lol word
