Chance Me Class of 2023 REA

Hi All, I understand that Stanford is incredibly tough for everyone to get into, but please let me know what you think about my prospects below.

UW GPA: School does not report(around 3.4) - Bad 2nd semester sophomore(2 C’s, 4 B’s) and 1st semester junior year due to family problems surrounding me coming out of the closet. I’m planning on addressing these in my essays.
W GPA: 4.02
SAT: 1530
ACT: 35
Sat II: 800 Math Lvl 2, 790 Physics
EC’s:

  • Run my own poetry blog - multiple awards and publishing for my poetry
  • Published book on haikus
  • 9 IOS apps on app store - revenue of $50 per month from them
  • Table Tennis Team - Varsity all years, State Champions last year and this year, placed 6th last year and 4th this year in state comp
  • Science Bowl: Varsity sophomore and Junior year, co-captain Junior year, State champions last year and this year
  • Published research in a journal regarding computer science
  • SEAP Summer internship - $3300 stipend

Income: Don’t qualify for aid
Intended Major: Creative Writing

High test scores (which will make a good case for you alongside a lower GPA and show that it was actually external circumstances and that you’re incredibly smart and hardworking), URM as a Pacific Islander, adversity through sexuality and coming out, and you’re highly accomplished in a myriad of ways. I think you’ve got a really excellent shot anywhere, honestly. Just make those essays great and write a compelling, cohesive application narrative.

Your ACT, SAT, and SAT IIs look really good! However, your gpa is a weakness. I’m not sure what you mean by “school does not report”, I’ve never heard of that. Being URM will help you stand out. Make sure your essays and teacher recs all come together to make a personal narrative that sells you. Right now it seems like your ec’s are kind of scattered (poetry/ app writing/ table tennis/ science internship). Best of luck!
