Chance me!! CMU CIT! :D

I'm an Arab girl from Africa. I live in Morocco, and i go to an American school. CMU has been my dream school, and I've always longed to study engineering there; however, my stats are pretty weak.

GPA: 3.96 UW
Rank: 2/53
SAT I: Math 600, Critical reading 530, Writing 650. (1780)
Yes, I know that my SAT score sucks.. And my SAT math is very low. But I'm actually very good in math. I got the Math award this year.
I'm planning on retaking it in October and I'm working like a dog over this summer to get a higher score! I'm hoping for at least a 1900..
SAT II: French 790
That's all I've taken in regards to SAT subject tests :S. I know that I'll be needing SAT Math II for CIT.

Senior Year Course Load:
AP Physics B
AP Computer Science
AP English Lit
AP Calculus AB
Eco/Government
Capstone
Advanced Arabic 2

AP's already taken: AP French (5), AP Chemistry (still waiting for scores)

Community Service: 100+ hours

I'm also play sports. I've been in Varsity Soccer, varsity basketball, varsity volleyball, and badminton since 9th grade.
horseback riding 4 years.
I got the Sportsmanship award for 2 consecutive years.

I also play instruments. Piano 6 years, trumpet 3 years. done many national concerts and competitions.
I speak 3 languages: english, french, and arabic.

Junior Vice president, raised a lot of money for our class.
Member of Interact for 3 years.
Model UN delegate.

Been selected out of the whole high school, along with 3 other students, to participate in an international conference uniting future leaders.

SORRY THIS IS SO LONG. I'm really really interested in going to CIT, and although my score don't show it, im passionate about engineering, especially in my country. Ill be sure to write an outstanding essay that will hopefully make up for my grades.

No chance with that SAT score. And you may say you’re very good at math but the people at CMU certainly won’t think so. You need to prove it with your SAT score.

Yes, I know that my SAT is very low. I’m retaking soon, and my score is already getting better. Is there something else I should work on other than my SAT?

Nope. Everything else is fine. All you need is serious work on the SAT and you should have a good shot!

While CMU might be your dream school, it could turn into a nightmare if, once enrolled, you find the curriculum too challenging. As one of the foremost engineering schools in the United States, its first-year CIT students include 75% who scored 740 or more on the SAT M. That’s quite a leap from 600 and even if your score does improve, my guess is that it won’t be by 140 points. Should you be one of the 25% who gets accepted with the lesser score, you should give serious thought as to whether you’re prepared and well suited for the academic rigors.
