A match for you if you can improve your ACT a few points. The current average GPA is 3.9 and ACT range is 31-35, but the low end of that range is taken up by in-state students who have a much greater chance of admission. The main obstacle will be your essay; you have to convince the adcom that you really, really want to come to Michigan and that it is not your 4th choice. They want people who want to be at UM and tend to decline students who use UM as a backup school. For in-state students, this is not much of an issue, the yield in engineering exceeds 80%.

I am not sure there is a match for the CoE any longer. I recall reading somewhere that the CoE admitted only 15% last year, which means the admit rate for OOS applicants was probably lower. But to have a reasonable chance, I would say at least a 33 on the ACT or 1500 on the SAT, and even then, it would still be a reach.

@Alexandre If that’s true then the LSA acceptance rate is higher than the given numbers. CoE brings the acceptance rate down.

@TooOld4School Thanks for the advice. Over the past couple of days I’ve been really researching mich and I can confidently say its one of my top choices. Going to hit the books this break and hopefully bring up that ACT. If I don’t break 700+ for science, should I even bother sending that score?

@Alexandre thanks for the info. I knew that OOS and CoE would put me at a disadvantage, but I didn’t think the percentage would be that low. I guess I just have to hope for the best

700+ for science?
