Chance Me/College Advice

Im a rising senior and my stats are pretty low, but if you could please chance me + give advice for schools I may get into that would be great. I had a rough sophomore year, I lost a close friend to suicide and started slacking off in school and my gpa started to show that. Anyways, everything is below .

-3.5 (W)
-3.0(UW) (it actually might be a bit higher but I don’t have access to check right now)
-Black female
-1050 sat score (ERW-550) (M-500) This was my first time taking the test and I was veryyyyy sick that day, its not an excuse but i’m prepping for the one coming in august!!
-mostly honors classes and 1 ap (i took ap hug sophomore year and got a c and refuse to take anymore ap courses)
-black student union
-unicef club
-feminist club
-nas
-fccla (only freshman year(i lost interest))
-started my own multicultural club (meetings beginning this year)
-yearbook (beginning this year)
-running an online clothing store
-tutor elementary kids after school/homework help
-working at a local fast food restaurant (summer of sophomore year-currently)
-i play the violin and taught myself to play the flute

here are the schools i plan on applying to:
(im a north carolina resident btw)
Florida International University
North Carolina State University
University of Central Florida
University of South Florida
Florida Atlantic University
East Carolina University
University of North Carolina Wilmington
University of North Carolina Greensboro
University of North Carolina Charlotte
WINSTON SALEM STATE UNIVERSITY
VCU
VIRGINIA TECH
GEORGE MASON

NCSU is my number one school but i dont think i will get in. Also i will be applying early to NCSU

I only know about VA schools. I’d say YES to VCU, Maybe to GMU, and No to Virginia Tech. Good Luck and hoping you get into your top choice!

Try to boost your gpas through senior year and retake SAT exams as youve planned. In my opinion, dont refuse to take AP because of one c. Give it a shot and do your best! You have ecs that have to do with culture, no racism etc which is good and shows commitment in the community as well as work experience which is again very important. Just try to take these AP classes, and choose them according to your major. Your ecs dont show exactly what your prospective major is (but they do show that you are a commited person), so try to show your passion in your AP classes and essay. I think that if you improve your grades a little and do well in your exams you have a chance for all those schools. Maybe chance me back?

You should be a lock for FIU and maybe UCF, I’m not too familiar with USF though. As long as you get your SAT up you’ll be totally fine!

Just apply to every Ivy with the same essay outlining how disadvantaged you are because of race and sex and that suicide and you will probably get in.

Anyway, a strong recommendation of mine is talking about your friend’s suicide in the additional information section of your application. I think it will greatly help your case and add another layer of depth to your character.
