..Chance me?

Very High Chances. I would say 90%.

Your GPA and SAT score are decent. Your connections with Columbia are great, but what are your EC’s?

Depending on how good your connections are, maybe 90%…

but without them only like 20-30%

Masterofpupets, here’s a list of my EC’s:

Clubs: Model UN, Co-founder and VP of Jeopardy Club, Secrety of FROM Club, Senior Advisor (officer) of Impact Ambassadors- a peer leadership club

selected for Teen PEP and Peers (also leadership classes, taken instead of gym) selected for New Jersey Boys State, leadership program well-known. As i mentioned before Columbia reserach lab, part-time work experience in babysitting and giving tennis lessons. Summer 09 and 10 participated in academic programs at prestigious private high schools. Member of Teen Philantrhopy Institute for 3 years, helped to plan a fundraising event, counselor for camp dream street, a free camp for low-income children with leukemia and othehr blood disorders.

Oh and i forgot to mention, AP scores are 5/US Hist/5 AP Lang and Comp/4 AP Bio, if these even help at all. Will also receive National Merit Scholarship Commendation, score of 215 on psat…

SheepGetKilled: My school’s connections are good, however it varies year by year; 3 years ago, 8 kids got into Columbia, 2 years ago 2 got in, last year 6 got in… but my dad does have good connections. My brother is also a cardiology resident there, if that helps

i’d say 40%. No reason why, just a hunch

hey my dad works at Columbia presbyterian too… does that mean i have connections too? does that raise my chances of getting into columbia?

neverstopsmiling- I mean yeah it does help a little bit, i’d say it raises your chances like 3-5% but the more important connection I have with Columbia is that my school does very well at getting kids in and has good relations with their admissions officers

I’d say ~75%. Your connections boost your admit rate a lot, I’m pretty jealous haha. Get a >2250 and you’ll be golden. Good luck this Winter man

^i wouldn’t be so sure about that.

i’d say you have a better chance than most people. you have lots of good stuff, and it should put you in the running, but i don’t see much that stands out besides your connections, which don’t really display any actual merit. still though, i’d say you have a better shot than most people with the same stats.
