chance me! Columbia+Georgetown+GWU

If you really want a chance back, link me and I'll try, but I really only know about schools in the DC area... xD Thanks for reading and chancing me.

Asian female at a competitive magnet program in the DC suburbs.

Scores:
SAT: 2300; 790CR, 750M, 760W (first and only sitting)
SAT IIs: 790 on Math II, planning to take World History in June
AP Scores: 5s on Computer Science, U.S. Government (not allowed to take freshman year)
PSAT: 236; 80CR, 76M, 80W (yup, useless, but semifinalist level)

Classes
Unweighted GPA: 3.98/4 (Only B was in 7th grade Algebra, I don't know if this will matter)
Weighted GPA: ~4.7/5

Junior (current) schedule:
AP Macro/Micro
AP World
Materials Science/Biochemistry (magnet classes)
AP Lang
Applied Stat (AP-level, magnet class)
Honors Japanese 4
magnet calculus (BC-level)
magnet engineering/research project

Senior schedule:
invitation only Honors English class or AP Lit
second half of magnet calculus (long story)/magnet Logic
AP Comp. Gov.
APUSH
AP Human Geography
Marine Biology/Thermodynamics (magnet classes)
Photography

ECs:
- Student Manager at a regional tutoring company (three years)<= I train new tutors as well as tutor kids in math and Japanese
- JV Volleyball Captain, second year playing (I didn't play my freshman year, so I decided to become the team manager... but I hope this explains why I only just got picked to play with varsity at the end of the season)
- Maryland Youth and Government delegate, second year
- Internship in lab at UMCP, worked with microfluidics (2009)
- Student Director of yearly magnet art performance/show night (several hundred attendees, I would estimate)

I do a lot of volunteer work for the magnet program as far as giving tours and helping out with meetings and such. I also volunteered on some campaigns in 2008 in between 8th grade and freshman year.

Other stuff:
- Adopted from China, two moms now separated <= more of a sort-of unique essay hook, I guess
- Taking internship this summer probably either at Columbia's ISERP (if I'm accepted) or at GWU with their public policy department
- Looking to major in urban studies or economics

Strengths: GPA, probably good recs, well rounded as far as balancing math/science and humanities
Weaknesses: ECs, SAT II score(?), lack of interest in higher level sciences (no science APs or SAT IIs)

I consider Columbia reach-ish, Georgetown match-ish, and GWU... somewhere floating in between a safety and a match. Eek!

They don’t look at 7th grade grades.

I don’t know about Columbia, but you seem like a good canadite, Georgetown is a match. You did take the highest level classes right? If you did, I think the no higher level sciences would matter.

Thanks for the chance and for the reassurance on the Algebra grade! I took magnet physics, chemistry, biology, and earth science, hopefully that’ll be enough.
