Chance me: Columbia University ED

Hello, I am currently a junior at public high school 2000+
I want to know my chance of getting accepted to Columbia ED!
If I get in, I would most likely to major in neuroscience
Thank you so much for taking your time to evaluate my chance of getting into Columbia ED!!!

Background:
Japanese ( I think there are about less than 1% of Japanese attending Columbia right now)
Moved here (TX) from Tokyo 5 years ago (I did not know how to speak English at all which affected my GPA: I could not get an A in English class…)
ESL (English Second Language) in middle school but in high school, I took all Pre-AP classes ( I barely made a B in Freshman year English Pre AP)

GPA: UW 3.75 W4.2 (my school is 6 pt scale —> W 6.31)
Race: Japanese
SAT: October (aiming for 1500+)
ACT: September (aiming for 33+)

I thought it would be better to take the SAT/ACT after taking English AP
SAT II: Chem, Math 2 and USH------> Scores will come out on July 21 ( I think I got all above 700 except Chem)
Class Rank: Top 13% (Again because of my low GPA I could not make top 10%…)
AP: 10 APs by the end of senior: Chem, Psych, Japanese, Physics, US History, Calc BC, US, Economics, US Gov, Stats
Awards: Carnegie Hall Violin Concert, Rice University Math Competition, Volunteering Service Awards, Solo and Ensemble State/UIL, Most Valuable Member Orchestra, National HS, French HS, Golf District 2nd place, Golf Regional group medal,Other small golf tournaments 20+

2,Since taking ESL was requirement until high school the class did not fully prepare me to be on the same level as the other English Pre Ap students in Freshman Year (the reason for my low GPA, but my grades have gotten much better)

Again, thank you for taking your time! (sorry if I have any typo!)

こんにちは !

Good news for you is that very few Japanese students study in the US. So despite being Asian, you will actually be at an advantage. Here are my thoughts:

  • Why did you take AP Japanese? As someone who is fluent in japanese, this looks like you were just trying to take an easy class for an A.
  • The admissions people will understand that English is not your first language, so they will take your English grades and standardized test scores into account
  • Your ECs are fairly good. However your biggest hurdle will be getting a high enough score on the SAT/ACT. You really need scores at the 50th percentile for Columbia to be competitive. This means > 700 on CR and > 750 on math. For ACT target a score > 34.

Good luck

Thank you so much for the comment!
I took French for the foreign language class throughout high school, and I only took the AP test for Japanese
I am studying very hard for the SAT and ACT so hopefully I can score high enough to be on the same level as the other applicants!
Again, thank you!

Ok good luck

Does anyone else have an opinion on what might be my weakness/strength? (and chance of getting in)
