Chance me Cornell ECE ED...updated

No, MIT is not my first choice- the schools are listed by difficulty
and MIT is too much of a reach for me, far more than that of cornell.
Im thinking about putting 4 REC’s total. Im not sure what’s all this complaining about EC’s; I don’t see how i can have anything stronger.
Please advise, not just leave stupid comments.
I want ECE because i don’t want to major in management.
I want ECE + Law; management and business majors are far way too common.
Obviously the practical school are listed only if i get 2200+, not with my 1850…
I want relative small schools on the east coast with both a strong ECE and Business Program…if you want u should stop saying useless things and suggests some schools to me…

or how about instead of taking our advice with a grain of salt, how about YOU do YOUR homework and research the schools YOURSELF. we all had to do it. if YOU think you have a set plan of what YOU want then find those schools yourself

I second that laurstar. If you really feel you need help finding the right-fit colleges for you, then hire a college counselor to help you because honestly, people on this website can give our opinions and nothing more, but college counselors will have more facts and will have visited far more schools. I know my counselor helped me greatly and I would advise anyone having difficulty compiling a list of appropriate schools to hire someone.

i didnt even have a college counselor. asianxtreme, take some time out of your “busy” life and get the information yourself instead of being lazy and paying someone $5K to do it for you

alrighty there calm down…i was just giving the guy some options if he doesn’t want to/is having issues finding colleges that are appropriate for him.

Asianxtreme: As a Taiwanese myself, I am quite ashamed of your cocky attitude, and with that attitude it will get you nowhere. Now, your ECs… what does “perfect citizenship” mean?

Cornell wants you to concentrate on a few things.

“yea…every EC on there is all really strong stuff…not fluff…”

I can surely see that~ ^^

And also, Cornell’s GPA is pulled down by some weak NY residents. That was my point.

i feel like people have the wrong idea that its easy to get into cornell from NY if u apply to state endowed schools which is not true since the number of people that apply from NY is a lot and so the acceptance rate is not much different.

And asianxtreme, u will not get in if u send in ur application with that laundry list of ECs to engineering…maybe waitlisted if you’re lucky!

okay…so far what i’ve heard was…
im cocky…apparently
I won’t get in with my EC’s at ECE because…didn’t hear about that part…
My GPA is low…which i can’t really do anything about at this point…
and I should find myself good colleges by doing research…when i have no idea where to start…
Well thanks everyone…I don’t know what to say…a lot of complaining that’s for sure though…
So very specifically tell me what is wrong with the way EC is set up
and anything I CAN DO?
or I can just assume that i’ll never get to cornell…well anyways peace out

Look. We’re more than happy to offer a bit of advice, but blind requests for chances won’t be met with much reception on this board, nor the boards of most other top schools.

I wouldn’t assume you will never get into Cornell. We gave you some pointers (improve the GPA, SAT, and make certain your essays identify your interest in Cornel), but beyond that, it’s a crap shoot.

What’s wrong with the ECs is that they are a laundry list of activities that really don’t help to properly identify “who” you are. Cornell’s more interested in what you are interested in than any list of activities. A friend of mine from high school wasn’t in the top 10 percent of his class, didn’t have a lot of activities, nor was his SATs stellar (1200s), but he was accepted on virtue that he was extremely active in the politics of my hometown, and even filed a suit against the town claiming infringement on the first amendment. He wanted to carry that type of education and activism to college, and that’s what got him accepted to Cornell. And I must say, he made a rather nice addition to campus.

Good luck.

Endowed colleges ensure that NY residents are prevalent.

but asianxtreme, its called you go on a schools website that you are interested in and see if they have the education/majors that you want. do you think my hs counselor held my hand when i told her that i wanted to do architecture? she didnt know a thing. obviously, becuase she didnt know what type of program i was looking for. its the exact situation here on CC. we have no idea what you want. you think you want to go to X school? research and see what they have. if they dont have what you want, cross it off your list and go on to the next school. simple as that.

well your new SAT must’ve come out today, would you mind posting it up? it would definitely help clear some stuff up on your chances and btw every1 with ur GPA and your predicted SAT score has a chance if they write a kick ass essay!
