Chance me???--Cornell is my safety! :)

lol jk Cornell isn't my safety school....I was just copying another user and using that to make this thread more noticeable..hope it works lol

so I'm only a junior in high school but my counselor is telling me to compile a list of schools that I want to apply to next year and so here they are:

Stanford
MIT
Harvard
Columbia **I really like Columbia
Yale
Cornell
Johns Hopkins
UChicago
Caltech
UC Berkeley, UCLA
Purdue

I just wanted to know my chances of even getting into those schools b/c I know that they're all super competitive and it's really hard to predict whether or not someone can get in......I want to be a Biomedical Engineering (BME) Major.
So here are my stats! :)

so yeah it would be great if anyone can tell me my chances of getting into those schools listed previously! Thanks :)

Stanford: Reach
Cornell: High match
MIT: Reach
Harvard: Reach
Yale: Reach
Caltech: Reach
Purdue: Safety
JHU: High match
U Chicago: High match (write stellar essays and it will seal the deal)
Berkeley: Match (maybe even low match, if you can pay full freight)
UCLA: Match (see above)

I think that you have a really good chance at being accepted at these schools. Try to work towards leadership positions ( president, captain, etc.) in your extracurriculars. You are a very focused applicant, which is a good thing. But to be honest, the deciding factor in your admission to any of these schools would be your essays. If your essays are strong, I would say you have a good chance applying EA and a very good chance applying RD. Good luck :)

Agree with both of the above, but want to add that I hope you’re planning to retake the SATs! Your scores are good, but they aren’t in the highest percentile, so why not?

yay ok thank you! this helped a lot  does anyone else have any other feedback?

If you look at any of the ED results thread getting 5s in atleast 5 good APs seem to be important to get into most of the top 10 schools. In my opinion you have 2 easy APs and two difficult ones so far. You do have good APs lined up and get as many 5s as possible.

Cornell is not your safety…please. High match/low reach maybe.

yeah…@ram0276…that's why I clarified in my post that I only used the Cornell line as a “hook” for this thread…lol I don’t actually think that Cornell is my safety. No one thinks that Cornell is a safety–it’s an Ivy League, after all. :)
