Chance me: Cornell Transfer

Hello! I was wondering if I could get some opinions about my chances of admission as a community college transfer student to the Cornell College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. I read online that they take both high school and college stats so I’ll put both below.

High school:
GPA- 4.1 W
ACT- 32 (English-34, Math-28 p low I know, Science- 34, Reading- 31)
NHS, CSF Lifetime member
Three Varsity sports (Track, Cheerleading, and Equestrian)
Four global humanitarian trips (Mexico, Haiti, the Navajo Nation, and Costa Rica)
Started a small business
Involved in performing arts (ballet and theatre)
Also a painter and had some of my art featured by musicians for promo stuff (Cage the Elephant and Noah Mac, if you’re wondering)

Community College:
I took a gap year between high school and college to join the AmeriCorps. Spent 10 months running after school programs for underserved communities in Miami, Florida.
GPA- 3.9
ACT- same as hs
I was a volunteer middle school leader at my church for two years
I also continued riding, but not part of a Varsity program

You might be wondering why I decided to go to community college when I could’ve gotten into several schools with my hs stats. I either didn’t get into or couldn’t afford any of the schools I really wanted to go to, and I really felt called to join the AmeriCorps. I know it’s unconventional, but I’ve never been one to follow the beaten path.

Do you think that this is something I could do? Is it even possible? I really want to transfer to Cornell, but I feel like it’s not common at all/might not even be possible. Please, any advice/info would be great!

What major are you applying to in CALS?

I think that Cornell is a very realistic target school for you. You are well qualified. However, nothing is certain, therefore it would be wise to apply to a few other schools as well.

@Boroboro Either biological sciences or plant biology

@courthaubs nice! I am also applying for 1. Plant Science / 2. Biological Sciences with a Concentration on Plant! I think your stats are strong. From what I have seen, Cornell is a fit-based. So as long as your essays reflect your personality, passion, and why Cornell, then I think you may have a great shot! Good luck to you

@Boroboro Thanks, you as well!
