Your application looks great, regardless of what other people post showing they’ve cured cancer or been to the moon etc…

Your positives:

  • SAT is very high. I bet you would do good on the ACT maybe get a 36
  • The fact that you took initiative on AP’s show you are dedicated so it doesn’t even matter that you only took one and others will apply with 12+, you did what you could, and more!
  • non profit has great numbers, thank you for your service!
  • legacy
  • Recs
  • Cornell takes a lot of students so numerically you will do great

Negatives:

  • GPA is average for Cornell, meaning that it’s not high enough that you are a safe bet for Cornell. However, your GPA is high enough to make you competitive
  • Your EC’s are strong but you could use more. If you explain them well that should be perfect
  • This isn’t meant to be mean, but being Indian is actually a setback. I’m Asian too and school’s prefer URMs (asians are not URMs sadly)

You’re in great shape, keep up the good work & best of luck!

I would agree with @stressedmhs that your test scores and nonprofit look great for college apps. I also agree that your GPA is a bit on the low side for most ivies, though Cornell does tend to be a bit more lenient. I also agree that being Asian (I am an Indian female myself) is a setback. Your biology subject test score is a bit low as well, but Cornell will like that you took it. I would suggest you take a few more that are related to your intended major to show Cornell that you are focused on what you would like to pursue in the future. Speaking of which, what DO you want to pursue in the future? Ideally, your ECs should clearly reflect a strong focus on a particular core subject you would like to pursue. Your ECs are very impressive, but I would suggest you do a bit more, and clearly show what you are interested in studying. I think overall you have a pretty good chance at Cornell. Good luck! I also plan on applying to Cornell, and I would love if you could chance me back here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1995754-chance-me-low-gpa-rank-cornell-rice-wash-u-ucla-etc-p1.html

Looks great. Will depend on essay and luck. Good luck!!

Your stats and EC’s definitely qualify you for Cornell. That being said, make sure that you let your passion for your EC’s really shine. You could write awesome essays on how helping others expanded your worldview, you could submit an article to your local newspaper promoting the importance of local charities like your own, etc.

You’re doing great!
