Chance me - CORNELL!!

I am an international student doing the IB Diploma. I will be applying ED to Cornell College of engineering in 2013.

My Academic Counselor told me that my subject combination is very rigorous and tough. Only 3 of us from our school (1000 students in my grade) have choosen Math, Physics and Chem HL.

I am doing my research(Extended Essay) in Physics.

My current scores are around 40 points.

MY SAT Scores are M- 770, CR- 560, W- 570.

* Organised a mangrove cleanup for my earth club.

So I would like to know my chances at Cornell. My only worry is my SAT score.

Your SAT scores are far too low for Cornell.

Cornell - reach

So what would be a good SAT score considering the rest of my application?

Cornell’s average SAT is above 2100. Standardized tests matter because they put everyone on an even playing field. All schools teach differently and have different classifications for higher and lower levels. A standard test like the SAT measures everyone equally. There is some leeway of course. Some students just aren’t good test takers no matter how smart they actually are. That being said, a 1900 is pushing how much leeway they’ll give you.

Thank you for the replies. Cornell looks only at Math & CR scores rite? or Do they look at all the three( Math, CR & Writing)?

Alright, for CORNELL, bump that CR and Writinf upto a 700 each. But I know that’s gonna be hard for you, so take the ACT. Look it up, trust me you’ll do better. In the ACT get a 32 or more.

Goodluck.

Again my question is does Cornell look at Writing Scores? In many websites they have stats and percentile only for Math and CR.

no they dont but like everyone else said if you dont have at least a 1400/1600 then its effectively impossible even with a very rigorous course load and a very high gpa

you need to improve that CR score
