Chance me— CSULB

California resident, not in long beach area.
A-G Weighted GPA: 3.55
Unweighted: 3.39
SAT I: CR 560, M 490, W 630
Will be retaking the SAT in Nov.
I’m applying for pre-nursing which accepts a minimum of 3300 in the STEM eligibility index, mine came out to 3670. What are my chances?

CSULB requires a minimum of 3300 for Pre-Nursing to apply, but their actual EI for acceptance has been running in the range of 4000+. Based on your posted Stats, CSULB is a Reach. Nursing is impacted in all the CSU’s so competition is tough. You might want to focus on less popular CSU’s such as Channel Islands or San Marcos. Also you can go to a CC and take the course requirements and try for a transfer.

Good Luck.

To increase my chances of being admitted, should I apply as undeclared, take the same courses as a “pre-nursing” student would, and attempt to transfer to nursing once I have all my requirements?

Yes, you could try applying undeclared and then try to transfer to Pre-Nursing. You will need to get a competitive GPA for the transfer but this is no guarantee you will be accepted into the Nursing School:

It will still be a tough admit based on last years Stats:
