Chance me? CSUs and UCs

I am applying as an Animal Science major at Cal Poly SLO and UC Davis. These are my top two schools, and I know that this major is very popular at both these schools, so I was wondering if anyone can tell me what my standings are.

If you could calculate your MCA score we could give you a better guess. Look up the thread “Confused about MCA” and it says how to calculate it in there.

Bumping posts that have been up for lees than an hour only irritates the other readers here. Calculate your MCA and then report back.

@eyemgh Sorry, I didn’t know I needed an MCA. The only question I have about it is if the bonus points are for taking more semesters than what CSUmentor recommends, or for taking the semesters that Cal Poly recommends?

Look at the pinned thread at the top, especially reply #2, #7 and #46 (since you took ACT). To directly answer bonus points are calculated based on how close you get yo the CP preferred vs CP minimum. Good luck!

@eyemgh thank you! based off my calculations, my MCA is a 4762.

That’s a strong MCA. I would guess your chances in that major are good. Did you have bonus points like partner school or service area?

@eyemgh I got bonus points for parent having some high school education

Now that I read that it might be confusing. It’s some or no HS education, but did not graduate from HS. As long as that’s the case, those points should count. Sweet!

@eyemgh oops! My parent graduated from high school, just didn’t go to college. my points should be 4462 instead.

I think that’ll still be pretty strong for that major. As usual, I always recommend a safety though. Good luck!

Thank you!
