<p>I know my GPA is a bit low for UMich but do I have any chance (Lit, Sci and Art or Engineering)? Thanks!</p>

SAT I: Math - 740, CR - 700, Writing - 660; TOT - 2100
Honors: All of my classes are honors.
APs: AP World History - 4; AP US History - 4
ECs:
-Lead Trombonist (4 years)
-Private Tutor (4 years)
-Church Volunteer (4 years) - Roughly 200 hours (Leadership Position)
-Shadowing/Working with a Lawyer (3 years) - Roughly 400 hours
-Leader of a Local Environmental Group (4 years) - cleaned a local park
-Science Olympiad (4 years) - Part of "Anatomy" and "Ecology" Events
-Key Club (4 years)
-Seekers (2 years)
-Video Club (2 years)
-Part of about 5 Political Rallies
-School Dance Performance (1 year)
Senior Course Load: AP Macroeconomics, AP Statistics, AP Government, others are honors
Special Circumstances: During my freshman year my dad suffered from a medical emergency which made all the house responsibilities fall on me for my brothers (cook, clean etc). Also in the Spring term, I missed a bit of school due to appendicitis. (IDK if any of these make a difference)</p>

<p>Essays: Really, really good (checked by AP english teacher and AP lit teacher)
Recs: 1 excellent rec, another is average and a third is the counselor rec
Hooks: First-generation college student</p>

<p>Oh and I forgot to say that I am taking college level course (Calc and Medieval History) at a local college due to a program with my school.</p>

<p>OOS and low gpa is not really a good match for michigan. I would say reach.</p>

<p>but your GPA may be recalculated because of your special circumstances. I know i had special circumstances junior year and I included in “additional information” those circumstances and talked to admissions and they told me that those grades will not be held against me, so i’d assume if you included that information in your application that would be the same case for you.</p>
