Apps are due soon so please help me!

Hey, okay, so your stats are AMAZING. With SAT’s like those, you have UChicago, NYU, And the Florida schools in the bag. Ivies are a reach for anyone, but you certainly have a great shot. good luck!

So I have a question. My sister has slightly lower stats than me… does she still have a chance at the same schools?
She has a 3.3 UW gpa, 4.54 W gpa, 1800-1900 on SATs, but 31 on ACTs, nearly same ECs and leadership positions as me, ranked 49 out of 661, so still top 10%. Umm, lots of volunteering, community service, and helped start the club with me. First generations, same number of APs, just 3 and 4s however, AP Scholar with Honor. Oh, and we’re twins, if that helps.

Most apps ask a “twins question,” but I honestly don’t know why. It might impact their decision. However, with those stats, I don’t think she’s a strong candidate for your more elite schools – Brown, Columbia, UChicago, Cornell.

UChicago might be more difficult to get into this year due to the huge jump in apps. I think you have a shot at all of them if you focus on your homelessness project with passion and personality in your essays. They’re all crapshoots, but that is the EC to focus on. The Independent research thing…it doesn’t seem all that noteworthy. They want to see passion, initiative, and leadership that is above the typical “club leadership,” and that community service project hits the nail right on the head.

Good luck!

do you think we’d be strong candidates for NYU? besides the florida ones, thats the one we both want to get into and cornell.
