So what do you think my chances are? Thanks in advance :)

Oh and I'm just at the Top 10% mark for class ranking

I’d say it’s a reach. Don’t let this discourage you, but their sub 10% admission rates would make it a reach for everyone without a hook.

U Chicago only looks a SAT CR+ Math, in which case you have a 1440. This is within their Middle 50, but towards the lower end of it. You have fine grades, even with an okay freshman year. Your extracurriculars aren’t outstanding, but they aren’t terrible. They’re really standard for a U Chicago applicant. Your class rank is fine, but by no means will it help you. Anyway, pay attention to the essays, and you could get in.

Debater1996-Definitley, I’m applying to UChicago as a reach school. Thanks, I understand now that I’m an average applicant. I think I’m going to retake the SAT again to try to get a more average UChicago score. Thanks!

I’d strongly suggest applying EA–you’ve nothing to lose. Your objective stats are solid enough that really special supplemental essays could feasibly push you over the top, so I’d probably pay more attention to those than the SAT. Quick question: you say your high school is similar to LaGuardia, so would you happen to play an instrument? If so, definitely record yourself and upload it to your UChicago portfolio. You’d be surprised how big of a difference a well-done music supplement can make. Good luck!
