I don’t know if you screwed up but your weighted GPA is higher than 5.

GPA: good if just UW
Class Rank: Good and doing band is much better taking a class, especially if you are that good. It shows dedication and skills other than studying.
Classes: Good
Standardized Tests: Good
EC: A little on the the low side but have strong ones.
AP scores: Good but not a lot of schools really care that much about them

Chances: (I only did the schools that I know about. I’m not going to pretend like I know, which is what a lot of kids do.)
UNC chapel hill- This could essentially be your safe school considering that you are in state.
Duke- You have a good chance, however if you live in NC, that might not help you.
Dartmouth- This is a reach school mainly because when applying to schools in the upper tier, everyone has the scores and other academic figures. I know its cliche, but you have to set yourself apart and that is where you sort of falter. An amazing essay would help.
Rice- A reasonable school for you to get into. Not too easy, not too hard.

Just to cite my sources:
A lot of my family members are academicians and I am a fellow applicant to some same and similar colleges.

In-state students have an advantage in Duke admissions (it’s in their charter).

Attending Gov School (GSE or GSW, if you don’t mind me asking), especially coupled with very solid stats, is as good as an in for UNC.

Why aren’t you doing the full IB diploma?

I’m at GSW. I love it. And the reason I didn’t do full ib diploma is that the classes are not as challenging as their respective ap classes and I felt I would learn more with my schedule.

UNC is a safety, and you have a excellent chance at all of the other schools. Duke and Dartmouth will be more competitive but you have as good a chance as anyone- just work on that essay, as it plays a huge role in the decision.

I’m in Charlotte as well. I’m guessing you are from Myers Park?

I’m at GSE :). And look at all these Charlotte people!

If you’re from Myer’s Park, doing Certificate may not be a big deal–I met a girl at Georgetown from Myers Park who did very well (Duke, etc) in the admissions process. At other schools in CMS, not doing the full Diploma is more peculiar. Still, this is something that your GC can explain in her rec.

I’d say your list is very reasonable and well-balanced.

Great list of schools. Colgate and Holy Cross(don’t have to be religious) are 2 very good LAC’s similar to Davidson and Furman.

^I can’t even begin to count the number of times I’ve seen this guy recommend Holy Cross. There’s got to be some affiliation there. haha.

Do I have any chance for the ivies?

Yes.
