chance me Davis/SB

So, basically, I kind of want to go to a UC like Davis or Santa Barbara. An I was wondering what my chances are/what I should improve. So here's my list of crap:

White/Middle class/very competitive high school

1 honors/1 AP (Japanese)

gpa uw: 4.00/ w: 4.06
UC gpa: 4.125

Going to have over 50 a-g semesters

2 letters of rec

SAT: M 680
CR 660
W: 600

Subject tests:
Math 2: 600 (yeah...)
Japanese: Haven't taken yet but it will definitely be high, 750ish

I do varsity track, will have 200 hours of volunteering at a Japanese pre-school, and have other various japanese related EC's that I don't really want to type out.

And I want to major in Japanese language/lit

My main worry is that not taking many AP/Honors classes will hurt me

Anyways, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

Great GPA at a great schools–I don’t know much about the UC’s, but I would guess that you have a pretty good shot. A lot of schools’ testing requirements are either the SAT with subject tests OR the ACT. If this is true for USCB/D, take the ACT!! Math is the 46th percentile and Japanese 750 would be the 51st. Avoid sending these and I think you have a good shot.

I think they look at languages differently if your not native from the country

more replies would be appreciated!

more replies would be great!

your sat scores are definitely better than average for davis and sb. if you want more detailed stats about those who got in you should look at the college board website (under each college, like ucsb, for instance, click on admissions, and ‘how do i stack up’). also, if you’re a part of ELC (top 4% of your high school) than you certainly can get in. you’re a bit weak on the extracurriculars and APs, but other than that, you still show a strong dedication to the japanese language and culture, which will definitely help you in applying. good luck and please chance me if you have the time.

Do you know your rank? If you’re top 4% (ELC), Davis and SB = in.

You should be able to get into Davis and SB with those scores/ uc gpa.

My school doesn’t rank, but even if we did I would be very surprised if I was in top 4%.

you should be able to get into both

For Davis and SB? In. Done.
