I think you have a pretty decent chance at Emory. I’m just curious why your ACT is notably lower than your PSAT… That PSAT is fantastic and on par with people who score in the 34-35 range. I think you could work a bit more on extracurriculars as well, but if your essays display passion you should be fine. With work on your ECs and ACT you’d probably have a solid chance at Emory, but those t20 schools seem to be somewhat out of range for now. Good luck though!
I think you have an awesome shot. HYP is a crapshot for anyone, but I think if you have some stellar essays, you’ll be even more of a competitive applicant than you already are. You have a clear goal, and that’s awesome!
Good Luck:)
Hard to say. Your ACT is a little low. There is still time to retake it if you wish.
Your ECs are a little weak - nothing really tells a story. A very competitive applicant would have ECs that tell a story, I don’t really glean anything from yours.
UCincy and Purdue are good shots for you. If you have really great essays, Emory may be in range. Good luck.
Your ACT is fine. I wouldn’t bother to retake. With your class rank (top 3%), you’ll be fine. Would be very surprised if you don’t get into Emory.
skinofoak, i’m going to have to disagree with your analysis here. Her ACT is well above the average, both national and for Emory. Please do some research before throwing out comments.
For Emory, your GPA is in their mid 50%, as is your ACT score. Acceptance rates are about 16%, so it would be a solid reach. What is going for you is that Emory considers both race and geography. I’m not sure how much Kentucky is represented at Emory, though.
Your ECs are pretty solid, and you have a pretty rigorous class list. While your GPA is on the lowish side (still pretty high), the fact that you are in the top 3% means that it could possibly be considered as being on par with GPAs in the 3.9 range (but I’m not sure).
I would put Emory as a low reach or even a high match, depending on what their ED boost means for applicants who aren’t legacies or athletes.
Yale, Princeton, UPenn, Harvard, and UChicago are all high reaches for anybody, even a hooked applicant with a good GPA.
JHU and Notre Dame are solid reaches
U Cincinnati is a safety, and Purdue may be a safety as well, depending on what your Naviance says.
You should possibly have a few matches, your list is too reach heavy. What do you want to study, and what are you looking for in a college?
