Essays
I have one really good common app essay that is really unique and well-writen but not personal enough. And I also have another that is really personal but a little less well-writen. My EC essay is about being a dorm prefect, which is really unique. My why this college essays are really good as well.

Recs
One from my advisor at school who is also my college advisor, should be pretty personal
One from my old advisor who will write about how I accomplished all my goals he ever set out for me – AMAZING rec
Two other recs from math and English teachers junior year, pretty good

Tulane EA (both parents went there, grandparents went there, aunt went there, getting a rec from a very influencial person working at Tulane)

If you applied EA you will know within a few weeks anyway, so any of us telling you what we think is kind of pointless. You have posted this under two different names about 6 places. Enough.

Relax- I want to know. I havent even submitted my app because its not due until another week.

You won’t “know” until you get an answer from Tulane. All people here can do is guess.

So why are you annoyed with this particular chance me besides the fact that i’ve put it in two different places? isn’t everyone else getting guesses from people about their chances as well…?

Two? Try about 4 under two different names. And you will know in a few weeks anyway. What difference does having opinions a few weeks before from people that can’t tell you anything definitive really make?

Chance posts make little sense, really. They only help if a student is clearly way off one way or the other. That is, if they are only trying for schools clearly out of their reach or (more rarely) not reaching high enough. In the former case, then it is useful that the student gets advice to add some real safeties so they they don’t end up with all rejections. You have safeties on your list (as seen on another thread) so the rest is meaningless.

Show me the 4 other names that this chance me is under, I’d like to know which ones you are talking about

Looking at your scores, you seem more likely to not get in… They are low for Tulane. I’m not shooting you out of the sky, but anything in the 1800 range is a mercy admission.

I’m still trying to match the “Silver medal” in Spanish with the 600 SAT II score…

Actually a lot of people in my class got a medal. The 600 SATII is a lot different than the national spanish exam. there is a lot of listening on the exam which is different from the SAT II i took

and are u sure even with the double legacy?

From what I’ve heard, Tulane values test scores FAR ABOVE any other admissions criteria. An 1870 is undeniably low for the typically accepted student.

Additionally, I wouldn’t see legacy being that significant in defining your admission because, again, your test scores and GPA are well below the average (unless your parents are hefty donors, of course).

Best of luck

See, you don’t read too well. I clearly said two different names. This one and another. You know what I am talking about. Anyway, a couple of people chanced you, you didn’t like the answers, you are still hoping they are wrong, of course. Did it really do any good?

I’m well aware what the SAT II subject tests are. I took three of them. On all three, I scored well above 600. 600 is a very average score. I wouldn’t submit it, because it invalidates that candy “silver medal” of yours. (It reminds me of those karate studios that give out black belts to five-year-olds, just to make their mommies happy.)

I’m sorry if you didn’t like my answer. Your scores are just too low. Tulane doesn’t pay attention to legacy. If you get in, you can come back and celebrate, but until then, have some back up schools.

@fallen chemist
I did misread that. And yes I wanted to know what my chances are and I wasn’t getting many responses in one thread so I moved it to another. You’re getting a little annoyed over something you have no control over. I have the liberty to post a chance me and see people’s responses.

i looked on college board for tulanes average SAT. i recieved a 670 in writing and 640 in math, both of which are better than 50% of people accepted. my lowest score is 560 CR. i know my overall average is lower than most applicants accepted.

@ tulane child
the candy metal was actually earned. My teachers specifically made us take practice tests from previous years for the NSE and that’s the reason why I did well on it (besides the fact that the teacher prepared us really well). I also got an A in spanish 3 my junior year, and I have an A in AP Spanish this year. Is that not enough to offset my SAT II score, and make the officers believe it was just a bad testing day?

@ thegreentea68
No.

Ok. I was advised by my CC not to send the SAT II’s anyways because they aren’t quality for Tulane (not in the 700 range).

any just clarifying, the subject tests are NOT a requirement at tulane?

SAT II are definitely not required for Tulane.

And do you recommend not sending any SAT II scores if they are below 700?

I wouldn’t. I don’t think that anything below 700 will be helpful and, conversely, it likely could hurt you. A Vanderbilt rep recommended not to send anything below 700 (SAT IIs are optional there, too).
