I’d say the SAT score is a little low for BC’s standards, although you definitely have a great ACT composite score which would make up for that. The committee might wonder whether the ACT score was a fluke or if the SAT was just a poor performance – the latter seems most plausible seeing as your SAT II scores are exceptional.

BC seems to put a significant emphasis on the essay, which could help you a lot or hurt you. Also, how are your recommendations? You seem to have a great shot at acceptance, considering your academic prowess along with community service and extracurricular activity, but your performance on the essay along with your teacher evaluations will prove to be important in the long run.

Good luck and I hope to be your future classmate come Fall 2011! :)

I applied EA to BC and was deferred to RD. I ended up getting in. To compare us a bit; I had a lower SAT than you, lower SAT IIs, and the same ACT. I was 3rd in my class. I took 5 APs (my school didn’t offer that many) and everything else Honors.

I ended up choosing Northeastern for financial reasons and I felt it was a better fit overall and I’m currently in my third year.

Basically, I think you have a very good shot! Good luck :)

Thank you both! My essay is good and my recommendations are really great. I am hopeful.
