Chance me ED Cornell

I'll be applying to CAS and only CAS

I only know that I want to go in the science direction, preferably something bio related.
Academics:
GPA UW~ 3.92
I'll refrain from posting my weighted GPA as it isn't quite as high as I would have liked. Our school has a 2 AP a year policy and even then only from junior year. We have no honors or pre-ap classes. Got special permission to take 3 during senior year.
Course rigor is probably as hard as it gets for our school.

Info:
International. Asian. Male.
Stereotypical I know.
Financial aid will not be requested.

Thanks for the chance.

You have an excellent chance. Your academics are very good as well as your SATs.

Where are you from? Think international apps also depend on the competitiveness of other applicants from your area. Nevertheless, looking solid.

Er, I’m from a country in the East Asia area, not SE Asia. Thanks for the chances :D

Your chance will depend on your financial status. If you apply for financial aid, your chance will be very very low.

I won’t be applying for financial aid. :D

"Your chance will depend on your financial status. If you apply for financial aid, your chance will be very very low’

…really? I was under the impresion that Cornell prided itself on the fact that the admission & FA offices have absolutely no contact with each other & FA has no bearing on admission???

I hear Cornell (and a lot of other schools) isn’t need-blind for international applicants, which is why the competition among internationals is tougher.

Cornell from what I understand isn’t need-blind for internationals, thus I will not be applying for FA. I will not need it.

i think you have a solid chance. good luck!!

“Cornell from what I understand isn’t need-blind for internationals, thus I will not be applying for FA. I will not need it.”

I don’t think this is true. I almost had to apply as an international student, but I spoke to the admissions department for a long time about this and I was able to meet the requirements to apply as a US student.

One thing that was mentioned was that Cornell is need-blind towards international students, however, they do not promise to meet established need. Thus, your chances of getting in are unchanged, but your chances of getting enough financial aid for yourself is diminished by being a foreign student applying for financial aid.

The two international students that I’ve lived with have gotten satisfying amounts of financial aid, but I also know of quite a few others who weren’t able to get any financial aid (like the handful of Koreans that are in every year from wealthy families).

Things might have changed in the past few years, or I may not have remembered correctly. It’s good that you don’t need financial aid though.

Regardless of financial aid, though, I think you stand a pretty good chance at acceptance.

If college confidential gave the option to like posts, I would like the OP. It would be scandalous if you were rejected.

Why thank you Noragon!
And I’m almost certain that Cornell isn’t need blind for internationals. From what I know there are only 6 institutions in the US that are need blind for internationals, Amherst, MIT, Harvard, Yale, Princeton and Dartmouth…

But yeah…

nice!! i think you have pretty solid chance!

Thanks for the chance. bump

badumptss.
