My daughter is a current freshman in Newhouse She was surprised that the average SAT of incoming class is 1248 (M,CR- she thought that was low). Your courses and EC’s are good and Syracuse will love that you went there this summer. I think ED is your best shot because they told us that they definitely accept lower stats at ED than RD time.

And my daughter is a senior in Newhouse. I am surprised that any school would come right out and say they take lower stats ED than RD. My daughter is a Newhouse representative, a peer adviser and works with a Comm 100 class, and I’ve never heard her say that. I think you may have a better chance ED, but not specifically because they take lower stats.

Your grades are within range and your ECs, experience, elected positions, etc. look good. I think you’ll be in an even better position if you take the SAT again and improve your scores. Good luck!

Threekids – Of course Syracuse didn’t say that officially. And I should add that it was an Admissions Office staff member who told us that, not a Newhouse person, at the 2008 Summer Preview Day. She was talking generally about the entire university and perhaps that doesn’t apply to Newhouse. However, every college that my daughter applied to, except for UMiami, said that it is easier to get in ED.

Thanks for all of the advice!! More advice is welcome…
