Extracurriculars :
- Debate- qualified for national speech and debate tournament two years in a row including my sophomore year which is rare, advanced to elimination rounds at two state tournaments, captain of specific debate event, placed 1st in informative speaking at district tournament, varsity debater of the year.
- TEDx - co director of operations for a TEDx event. I’m have been on the board since my sophomore year. We filled the event last year and I was responsible for catering, ticketing, and marketing the event. This year I am responsible for sponsorships, budgeting, marketing, and production.
- Worked for a political campaign for the 2018 midterms elections. I campaigned hundreds of homes and helped persuade voters to register and support the campaign.
- Mayors Youth Advisory Council- I was selected to be part of a local council that focuses on preparing students for roles in local government. I learned about the importance of collaboration between multiple agencies as well as the amount of work that goes behind even local government.
- UNICEF- president of the club my senior year and communications officer my junior year. Organized lots of volunteering opportunities and socials as well as raising awareness for local and global issues. Also helped organize a trick or treat Halloween drive to raise funds for unicef.
- Choir- freshman and sophomore year. Part of the varsity choir my sophomore year. Qualified for district and region choir as well as earning a one on both a class 2 solo and a class 2 ensemble.
- Baylor internship- I interned at a lab developing a preventative drug (I won’t go into detail here). I gained valuable laboratory skills from observing and partaking in certain lab procedures. This internship was back when I was interested in pursuing a career in medicine.
- Peer tutoring organization- I confounded a club at my school to provide peer tutoring services for students struggling academically.
- National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, English Honor Society.
- Coursera economics course- this fall I’ll be completing an online course in economics to learn more about my intended major.
Teacher Recs- should be abt 7/10 each.
Essays- should be pretty good. I’ve worked on my why northwestern statement a lot and my common app should be good.
