<p>You need an angle, edge or hook. You sound like 90% of the Duke applicants. Smart, pre-med or eng., NHS, academic team, tennis, piano, church group, volunteer at hospital, blah, blah, blah…I’m falling asleep and so will the ad. com. You need something you do or love to catch their eye. Maybe leadership or teaching. Academics are not enough to get into Duke or any selective school. What is your passion? How do you make your high school or community better? Let them know about it. You need to give them reason to select you instead of 5 other kids with the same numbers as you.</p>

<p>I thought that i had the teaching/leadership through teaching a karate class and teaching CCD at my church. I guess i shouldve gotten involved more</p>
