Chance Me ED Please? =)

Hi Guys,

So I've applied to Northwestern ED. Do I have a shot at NU? I know My SAT IIs are kind of average/on the low side and my AP scores are absolutely horrendous, but is it possible for me to get accepted? Thanks.

MISCELLANEOUS
-Top 5%-12.5% of Class (Class Size ~300)
-I only sent in one teacher recommendation, but I'm absolutely certain that it is VERY good. The teacher even said she "raved" about me.
-I feel that my essay is very strong. It's unique and different, has a strong voice, and shows the colleges my character.

SATS
-SAT I: 2020 Super Scored/Combined (700 CR, 660 Math, 660 Writing)
-SAT II United States History: 620

AP TESTS
-AP European History: 3
-AP United States History: 3
-AP Literature: 2
-AP Chemistry: 1
-AP Biology: 1

*Note: I did terrible on my AP tests because I got pneumonia and science is just not my calling/subject. Also, my counselors said that it would be worse if I didn't take the AP test as that would be suspicious than to take an AP class and not take the AP test for that class, so I don't exactly know what's up.

Anyone please?

You know what the strengths and weaknesses are:
Your test scores are weak (or in a couple of cases, worse). They could hurt you. Your GPA is solid, and your CC course grades are obviously great.
ECs are diverse and interesting.
Do you “have a shot”? Absolutely. Would I bet the house on it? No.
Good luck.

^Hahaha cool, thank you for your insight. I appreciate it =)

Reach. possibly waitlisted RD.

From my perspective-REACH. I do think it will serve you well to address this dichotomy with your AP scores/class grades in one of your common app essays—Your ECs-I agree with WCASparent.
G’Luck!

Yeah, I wrote for the thing about extra things that I want to tell the college that I was sick with pneumonia during the time when most people were studying for AP tests. I also wrote that I found out science is not my subject and not something that I want to pursue. I took AP Chem and AP Bio junior year because I thought I might want to pursue dentistry/pre-med but now I realize I don’t. Hopefully, they’ll consider this lol.

But yeah, do you guys think it’s a ridiculous reach or somewhat reasonable? I always knew it was a reach, but is it really bad or just like alright? Lol thanks guys, appreciate it.

You definitely have a decent shot… Remember it’s ED and NOT RD. If you really want to go to Northwestern, the Adcoms will see that in your essays. Best of luck from a fellow EDer =)

Bro… you stand a chance. Just not a gurrreat one.
