Doing Early To Cornell. I live in NY at one of the most competitive HSchools
Applying to CALS (college of agriculture and life sciences)
I think my downfall is my UW GPASchool does not rank
UW GPA: ~3.8 (0.02-0.03 less i believe)
W GPA: ~4.0
Only 7 AP classes in total
Getting ACT back next Tuesday (expecting 33-36, lets say i get a 34. 33 is my lowball because i already know i got a common knowledge question wrong on science, which everyone else probably got right- i changed it at the last second- so the curve for that will probably be bad)
EC:Created a club/president for 2 years it is one of the largest at our school, member of 5 honor societies-2 which i tutor for, wrote for schools literary magazine for 3 years, did indoor track, outdoor track, and cross country, first chair in orchestra, i was a research assistant for our highschool lab, the focus of my app is my research and it is my most time consuming EC
Recs: First one 11/10
second one probably 7-8/10
Essays: common app was humorous/light hearted essay about ‘coming out as vegan’. it was creative, unique, told a lot about me, and my guidance counselor and english teachers absolutely loved it. wrote with my own voice, not someone who panned a thesaurus looking for high-level vocabulary
supplement for environmental science and sustainability major at CALS. did a wonderful introduction about my early research where we found that species of horseshoe crabs in my area had gone practically extinct after 500million years of existence…showed me how impact human race has been on environment, then i talked about how every year since i have dedicated myself to other biodiversity conservation studies and i detailed what each of them were about, including a 2 year study that has been especially interesting… finished by talking about specifics about Cornell that appealed to me
Awards; AP scholar (who cares i guess) & 6 science research awards (only regional though )
