Chance Me ED? WashU 2020

Hey guys I am a St. Louis Junior hoping to get into WashU for Olin Business through Early Decision

ACT: 32 (Will retake)

SAT2: Math 2: 730, Chem: 720 (will take more/retake)

GPA: 3.92

I took AP Statistics, AP US History Junior year.

Senior year: I will take AP Biology, AP Economics (micro/macro), AP Psycology, AP BC Calculus

I go to a top five private high school in Missouri. I am the NHS president, Admissions Ambassador Captain, Senior advisor, School newspaper reporter, and pastoral team member. I have over 100 hours of service hours as well. Nothing too special of my ECs for a school like WashU…i know :frowning:

Asian Male at Catholic school which WashU usually accepts about 10 or so.

Hooks? Eh…well my brother graduated 2015 Summa Cum Laude from WashU studying Biomedical Engineering idk…I will interview for sure as well.

Thanks!

Your general dry profile could be a Wash U student’s, but plenty of qualified people get rejected. A huge focus is your grades (not your cold GPA, but which classes earn what and is there improvement over time etc), essay, and recommendations. Your stats don’t stand out but whose do? Standing out is about what makes you unique and a good fit for the class + luck.

Thanks, yeah WashU is a reach for me and its a crap shoot so idk

Whow, by your profile pic, your a current WashU student!

You’re definitely qualified! The biggest thing I would recommend is to make sure you demonstrate a passion for WashU (through an interview, tour, and contacting your regional admissions officer) and a specific extracurricular. It’s good that you have a wide range of things going on outside of school, but really be passionate about one or two of them.

Thanks a lot!

No problem, I definitely remember how stressful college apps can be. Feel free to message me if you have any questions!

you look great but honestly ED is the epitome of “demonstrated interest” so not sure if demonstrating more interest besides applying ED is necessary. i think concentrating on increasing standardized testing and first quarter grades being awesome is what you should concentrate on.

I got accepted to WashU today. I got in with a 3.92 GPA and a 33 ACT. Applying ED definitely helped me for sure!
