My class rank is 24 out of 308, my school does not weight college classes. I have over 250 hours of community service. I ride four buses for over a total of 2 hours to attend a better school.

I had an off campus interview, it went very well. They said they wrote me a very favorable recommendation.

I did not to get to see my teacher recommendations (they should by average to good), but I did see my employer’s rec. at the end they said they said that I change them and their child’s life forever (for the better).

I’d say you have a wonderful chance of admission. Great grades, diversity, commitment to service and education. If you’re not from the New England states, even better! With such a low admissions % it’s anyone’s guess who will make the cut, but I’d say you have a great shot!

@JoBenny I’m from the Midwest, Ohio to be specific, if that helps

@hillyer300 While you’ll find kids from all over the country and world at Bowdoin, the student population is still very ME/MA/New England heavy and I think they’re trying hard to diversify…esp since, as amazing a school as it is, it doesn’t seem to have the name recognition as peer schools like Amherst or Wesleyan or Tufts.I wouldn’t call it a “hook” really…but being a student who is not from the Northeast can only help!

JoBenny, 66% of Bowdoin’s class of 2018 is from outside of New England . .

Which means that nearly 35% of students are from 5 states. I’d consider that pretty New England- heavy.

Only one-third of the class from the home region??? Hardly New England heavy . . .I think the other states that are heavily represented are Calif, NY, and NJ. It’s a very different Bowdoin from the one of not that long ago when the numbers would have been reversed and two-thirds would have come from New England.

bump…

@hillyer300 did you get a chance to attend Explore Bowdoin?

@ramon712 No I heard about…12 hours before the deadline lol. I have never actually been to Bowdoin but I have a gut feeling

Hopefully you got good news yesterday?!
