Chance me - ED1 Class of 2025

I just submitted my application a few days ago, and I feel incredibly nervous since I did not submit my SAT scores. Here are my stats:

GPA - 3.7/4.0 (unweighted), 4.7/4.0 (weighted)
SAT - Did not submit scores
I will have taken 10 AP classes by the time of my graduation.

As for my ECs, I am the Speech and Debate captain. My team have been 2nd and 1st place in our division (2nd and 3rd year of HS), and have been quarterfinalists for our region’s Speech and Debate conference for two years in a row. It’s not quite as impressive as winning the whole thing, but debate is something that drove me to apply. I did mention that in my essay.
4 years of Reading Olympics, coming in at 4th place (1st year of HS), 3rd place (2nd year of HS), and last year’s competition was cancelled.
2 years of NAACP Youth Club, 3 years of Philosophy Club, and 2 years of Scholastic Scrimmage, and some more ECs that I didn’t care for. I also added volunteer stuff like a Service Learning Project about Oppression in Society, several book drives/reading to kids, etc.

As for my essay, it was about five things I have kept in a box in my closet. I told little stories about myself through those five things. All my school IDs (I’m an immigrant, but I didn’t want to revolve my essay about it), a part of an aircraft that has been in space given to me by my science teacher, a prayer card, a tiny trophy for having the greatest average in English in 8th grade, and my first Speech and Debate speech.

Depending on how much demonstrated interest you showed, I’d say you have a really good chance of getting in! Just keep in contact with your admissions counselor (not too much, don’t be overbearing) and sign up for email lists if you haven’t already.

This might be a silly question, but is “demonstrated interest” relevant to this ED1 applicant? Isn’t ED the ultimate expression of interest and LTE (likelihood to enroll)?

That aside, I would think this applicant has a very strong chance of success–American reports 85% acceptance through ED. Since the applicant is an immigrant, if this applicant has the first to attend college hook, odds go even higher.

While ED is the ultimate expression of DI, it’s still important to keep up DI throughout the period between application submission and application decision. Especially since AU regards DI so highly. It also factors into special program offers as well.
