Intentions of getting a job senior year

I expect my essays to be very good, writing is my strong suit. I took the best courses available to me, which was not much. however I’m considering taking some APs online my senior year and through the summer. Would that be a good plan or are my classes competitive enough? I know my gpa is weak but I am hoping my test scores will improve and be competitive enough?

I think you have really well-rounded stats, especially considering you have taken the most challenging courses available to you (that goes a long way)! Your ECs, knowing how much time Dance encompasses, are excellent. It shows passion and commitment. I agree a job senior year will definitely help and additional community service/volunteerism will also help…look into other opportunities over the summer when you have some time to commit to volunteering. Your SAT/ACT are both good for most major universities/colleges and if you can bump either one a bit you will be even that much more competitive. My suggestion would be to spend time brushing up on SAT over the summer and take it again late summer/early fall bc I think your best shot is to bump your SAT since ACT has more trig and the SAT is much more Alg 2 which you just finished. I can’t chance you 100% on all of your options but my thoughts as of right now you are a good match for U Richmond (I loved the campus and their post-grad employment rate is phenomenal), Florida St and U. Florida are both great matches and should be very economical for you. BC, Colgate and Emory aretougher but depending on the X-factor items such as Essay you are still in the running, especially if you can gain some points on your standardized tests. I am not overly familiar with Georgetown lately but I’d think they are in the same category. Work on bumping your test scores a bit and you have a good shot. Make sure you keep a few of those safeties in the mix…and stay positive and focused. Good luck!

Florida State University - safety
University of Florida - low match
Boston College - high match
University of Richmond - match
Colgate University - high match/low reach
Emory University - reach
Georgetown University - reach

As long as you stay in the top 10% of your class you have a good shot at the first five. Emory and Gtown are reaches for pretty much everybody, so I wouldn’t discourage applying either, we all need our reaches just to see what would happen.

I’m assuming you are applying RD to get the best financial Aid possible. Increase your ACT score try for a 33.
