Chance me? - Emory University Main Campus

Hi there and thanks for checking my thread out! Please respond with anything! ANYTHING!

Total of 11 AP Classes, with a majority of 4’s and 5’s.
EC’s:
Vice President and Director of service of Habitat for Humanity Chapter
Co-Head of Programming on the Robotics Team, which placed first in state
FTC (First Tech Challenge) Dual State Champs Finalist
Academic Bowl - placed 3rd in state
Math League (A team)
TEAMS/TSA National Competitor and first in state
National Honors Society (Overall and language)

Awards:
12th in Nation for the National French Concours
Placed in the top 1% of testers for the National WordWright gold level division.

Summer Activities:
Worked as a lifeguard for two summers, and awaiting a job offer as a math tutor this summer.
Attending University of Maryland’s Terps Young Scholars Program for Economics

Everything else pretty standard.

Intended Major: Applied/Discrete Mathematics through the College of Arts and Sciences.

Worries: My ACT seems to be on the lower side, but I’m planning on working with a tutor towards the end of this year to work on that score. Hopefully rising to a 32-33 level. Please criticize anything and EVERYTHING. Any weak points to be pointed out to me would be a huge favor for a stressed out junior!

P.S. my college counselor keeps telling me everything is a reach no matter what college I propose, so I’ve decided to come on here.

get your ACT score up, at least a 34 if you want to feel comfortable

Because of your interest in math and economics, try to qualify for AIME/Math Olympiad and/or one of the programming based olympiads and/or a mathematical modeling contest and/or a nationally recognized science fair:

Get a higher ACT score - at least in the top 1% nationally (33C). Improve your math and science ACTs to as high as you can get them.

Keep your grades up first semester senior year.

Apply early enough to be considered for a full ride at Emory (sometime in November) or perhaps Early Decision I, which is though to be easier than Early Decision II and Regular Decision.

I think if you get your ACT up a couple points, you’d be a strong candidate…

If you can get your ACT score up just a little higher, I think you’ll have a good a shot as any, and I would not be surprised if you are admitted. Your national honors are really unique, and your extracurriculars are great as well. Improve your ACT and write a kickass essay and in my opinion you have a great chance

ED1- Low Reach
ED2- Reach
RD- High Reach/Very High Reach
You need at least a 32 as an unhooked applicant, to have realistic chances. However if you apply RD you want AT LEAST a 33 preferably a 34.
Are you applying ED?

@BiffBrown : Early Decision? I doubt this person is that interested in Emory. I think they are just on here because this one of the tons of top schools they will apply to.
