-Got in touch with the state parks again, and helped collaborate on a monitoring project for special, curative plant species. Got school volunteers to join.

  • Called and contacted the State's Fish and Wildlife department and conversed with representatives for a week. I managed to arrange for a biologist to come to my school and give a school-wide presentation about endangered species within the state.

-Organized a school-wide fundraiser for endangered bear species

-Competitive Summer Research at Princeton University, where I studied evolutionary biology (I am applying for the Rutgers program this summer too)

PASSIONs:

But besides biology, my main passion is writing.
Let me go into further detail:

I have been writing for a while, and have entered into numerous nationwide competitions - I didn’t win anything I am entering in more this year, but besides publishing in my school’s Literary Magazine, I’ve got squat.

But I’ve been recognized for my writing by established organizations, and I plan on writing my essay on this one, great experience I had learning with actual authors about writing when I techincally wasn’t old enough to be allowed to do so.

I know it’s a little early considering I don’t have anything real finalized yet but…

LAY IT ON ME PEEPS

I assume you are applying RD, in which case your chances are solid I guess (never a shoe in for top schools, even at Emory), but If you were interested in science (like a job or PhD in it-basically not pre-health), they would increase further because it would add more diversity I guess. Fortunately the interest and success in robotics will help off-set any “stereotypical Emory” effects because that isn’t a stereotypical interest, especially for natural science majors (specifically biology majors who are usually squeamish on math, physics, and CS).

Also, you don’t have to describe the process by which you established or organized things…
As for writing, passion, dedication, and display of the skill are perhaps more important than a prize, unless it is a big one.

Also, if your GPA can improve a little that would help significantly. Emory lies high scores, but isn’t a high score junky! Although I feel your AP scores may demonstrate the quality and rigor of your HS curriculum.
