I’m a white girl from the midwest. I’m interested in biology/pre-med/health sciences
GPA: 3.92 unweighted, school doesn’t offer weighted
ACT: 33C (35R, 35E, 33S, 29M)
SAT: n/a
Rank: school doesn’t offer
Course load: I’ve taken 4 AP tests so far, taking 2 right now. 6 honors classes.
AP Tests: World: 4, U.S. History: 5, Language: 5, Biology: 4
ECs: My main one would be being on my school’s newspaper. It is a nationally ranked program (at least top 15.) I took the introductory class freshman year. Was a writer sophomore and junior year. Now I’m a writer and the editor of the health and wellness section.
I’ve been on the cheer team for two years (junior and senior) unfortunately only jv. We did place 3rd at state and I’m the basketball co-captain for this upcoming season. I might write about this for the essay, depending.
I’ve been in a few volunteering clubs- especially freshman and sophomore year when I had more time. Humane Society, a club where we visited the nursing home, one where I assisted those with disabilities in therapeutic horse riding. Around 85 hours in total over the course of freshman and sophomore year.
I’ve fostered Boston Terriers for the past four years with my family. Helped rehab and place around 25 dogs into new homes.
The summer before junior year I tutored kindergartners for 50 hours.
I’m also a part of my school’s national honors society.
For awards, nothing special. I received recognition from my Algebra 2 honors teacher. The usual AP scholar with honor.
Letters of Rec: Counselor (don’t know too well but had a nice 20 minute conversation for letter), journalism adviser (should be pretty good), biology teacher who I’ve had for three years (should be good), apush teacher (really good relationship)
Essays: I’m a writer, so should be okay. I’m still working on how I want these to look. idk
I’ve visited the Emory campus and I really liked it. So fingers crossed. I’m also applying to Boston College, Barnard, University of Alabama. If you have any suggestions or comments about those, please respond.
