I'll chance back! Thanks!!

anyone? bump bump o_O

Of all of those, I’m really only somewhat familiar with NYU. You seem to have great test scores, save the physics AP. Leadership is there, grades are certainly there, and NYU is known for diversity. Obviously not an expert, but you seem to fit the numbers and basic criteria for NYU. Good luck!

thanks nelly!
bubump. anyone else?

Match for all UCs and reach for UCB. Again, rough estimates. Don’t kill me if it doesn’t agree with your expectation :D

Btw, very nice math scores. What major are you applying? (some majors are easier and some are harder to get in for UC system).

Other schools, i’m not familiar with them.

It would be helpful to know your HS rank or approximate decile. Assuming top 10%, I think your school list is a good one, with at least a fighting chance at most of the schools on your list:

UCs: Berkeley- high match (because of “undecided” major), UCLA- high match (because of “undecided” major), UCSD- match, UCI- low match, UCD- low match

Northwestern- low reach
Emory- high match
Tufts- high match
Carnegie Mellon- high match
USC- high match
NYU- match
Johns Hopkins- low reach
Vanderbilt- low reach

Again, this assumes you are in the top 10% decile.

Good luck :)

UCB-lowish reach
UCLA-high match
UCSD-match
UCD/UCI-low match
Northwestern- low reach
Emory- high match
Tufts- high match
Carnegie Mellon- high match
USC- high match
NYU- match
Johns Hopkins- low reach
Vanderbilt- low reach

Chance back please!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1027620-brown-ed-chances-i-chance-back.html

The problem with this list is that your Natchez and safety schools do not meet need. If you’re low income and looking for aid, you should add some match schools that meet 100% of need.

^Good point from 2college… the UC’s and NYU in particular.

thanks everyone! and great point from 2college. that’s something i need to think over.

as for my major I’m applying undecided

@jshain, does applying undecided to UCB make it easier or harder to get in?

any other input would be great!

undecided majors would be easier to get in but once you get in,you might have to fill out this or that form to start your major there and some majors like bio-chem, computer science, bus-econ are very hard to get in even when you get in to the school. I’m refer to UCLA specifically and this is through my experience there but i also heard similar story with UCB.

^Engineering is another example of a major that is next to impossible to get into after the fact-- at UCB in particular… If you truly don’t know yet what to major in than put “undecided”, but someone using it as a strategy for admission could have adverse consequences.

that’s great for me since engineering is one thing i DEFINTIELY won’t major in
…that and computer science

jshain, I absolutely agree with you on that  Are you also an engineering student?

"If you truly don’t know yet what to major in than put “undecided”, but someone using it as a strategy for admission could have adverse consequences. " <<< Yep, you phrase it so nicely!

diemking, what major are you thinking?
I’m surprised that you aidn’t going into the science/engineering stuff when you have very good math scores. I thought you are running that route. let me guess, you are into the social science then?

kevin101, my S is an Engineering applicant (Mechanical)…

i really have no clue what to major in… i’ve done equally well in all my classes and i actually do very well in my ap literature discussions despite the low test score. i do well in math too but i find it boring as was my experience with computer science my freshman year.

my favorite classes so far: ap us history, ap environmental science
that said, yes i think i would do something in the lines of social science or business… something like that
