Chance Me for 6/7 year med programs

*The Penn State Med Program is my ultimate dream, but I will be applying to others.
Hi! I am only a sophomore in high school, almost a junior! i know it will be hard to chance me without an SAT score and high school's hardest year! But I would appreciate it a lot if anyone could tell me if I am on the right path for a 6/7 year medical program! And what I could do to improve my chances throughout this summer and junior/senior year!

White; Female; New Jersey

I go to a vocational high school and I had to apply to get in. I am in the academy for Health Care Science. My high school does NOT have AP courses offered

Clubs/Activities
-Varsity/JV captain for girl's soccer
-I was a competitive gymnast for 6 years (doesn't matter, but being on a team for 6 years taught me so much and helped lead me to wanting to be a health care professional)
-VP of Photography Club
-Key Club (50+ volunteer hours)
-Secretary of Environmental Club (going on a biology trip to Costa Rica next year for this club)
-HOSA (I am a part of Health Occupation Student Association and I competed in the NJ State Competition for Sport's Medicine and I came in 4th. Also I am running for school and state positions in this club next year)
-Hospital Volunteer (just applied, working over the summer!)
-Also, I am in the process of becoming a Red Cross Youth Volunteer and making the Red Cross club at my school. I sent in the proposal a couple of weeks ago and it should be approved (or disapproved) by the beginning of next school year.

My classes for Junior Year include the following:
(Health Care curriculum)
-Health III
-Health & Wellness/Health Assessment
-Clinical Research
-Honors Nutrition
-Honors Medical Math
Regular Curriculum
-Honors Anatomy & Physiology
-Honors Pre-Calculus
-Honors English III
-Honors US History II
(My elective is included in the health care curriculum because there are so many classes to take)

Also, because Health Care students in my school have so many courses, we have to either drop Spanish or Science (Physics). I have yet to decide which one to take so if you have a suggestion for a medical program path, please tell me.

I have yet to take the SAT, SAT Subject Tests, or the ACT. I plan to take them next year.

I enjoy health care so much and I know for a fact it is what I want to do for the rest of my life. If you could chance me in any 6/7 year med program or give suggestions on how to improve my chances, that would be very appreciated. Be as brutally honest as you can, please! Thank you.

we can’t chance you if you have no SAT or GPA yet. If you have a 4.0 GPA and at least 2250+ on the SAT, with good ECs, then you got a chance.

It is impossible to chance you without a GPA, any form of score and no listed ECs. Also unweighted GPA is more important then weighted GPA…

You should drop Spanish, Physics is crucial for pre-med.

I understand it is impossible to chance me without SATs, just suppose I do get a 2250+, then how good are my chances?

And my ECs are listed!

My unweighted GPA is a 3.7795 (this is from freshman year, an updated GPA will be posted soon)

GPAs on the low end for such selective programs, personally I won’t chance with hypothetical scores (especially such high ones that such a low percent of people actually get).

Take physics, get your SAT above 2200 and take Bio & Chem subject tests w/ atleast 760’s. ACT 33+ . Get your weighted GPA above 4.00 and then ask to be chanced again. You aren’t chance worthy yet but you are definitely on the right track for what you’re looking to do!

Thank you all for your advice! It seriously helps me!

No problem! If you have time, chance me :)

You’re heading in the right path, but there a few things that require work. 6 year/7 years programs put extra emphasis on a high GPA and test scores. I know 3-4 people who go to UMKC and UTD 6 year med and they are all 4.0, 2250+ students. However, it is quite hard to chance without a GPA. APs look great great on transcripts, but it won’t really matter if you didn’t take the exam because colleges don’t even see your score until after you graduate high school. I think you would have a strong chance if you kept your SAT score high, maintained all As junior year, KILLER essays and did a lot of work related to healthcare. This could be anything from science fair to interning at a hospital.
