Chance me for a 2.8 GPA. yup. :|

Hi, I have a 2.8 GPA with a 1440 SAT score.

For extracurricular activities, I have participated in going to a school with autistic children and done activities with them.
I've also went to a after school program and became a teacher assistant for kindergarten for a few months.

I know I have probably the worst score you'll see on this site, but I still want to get into some place, especially UIC (I'm out of state, I live in NY). I'm also Asian-American.

Chance me for;

University of Illinois at Chicago
Chicago State University
Lehman (CUNY)
Buffalo (SUNY)

Thank you so much. (:

If I were you, I would first look at the schools you mention on Collegeboard or the school website and look at the profile of the typical incoming freshman. If you are close to that profile, APPLY! The worst that could happen is that they say no. Look at your community colleges. Often your HS transcripts don’t even follow you when you transfer out to a four year school. There is nothing wrong with a CC. My son will be attending a CC in the Fall and he has very good grades. He just isn’t sure where he wants to go with college and wants to save $$$ while he knocks out some requirements. If you have your heart set on a four years school spend the time researching schools that match your profile.

I’ve done some research, and trust me, I did a lot.
I’ve been really looking into UIC, and I’m hearing from all of my other friends that this is a good school as well. Esp. in medical.
Matter of fact, living in Chicago would quite fascinating for me.

Chicago State University, I’ve heard some many bad reviews, but I’ve applied just for the heck of it. =

I really want to get into UIC, however, my chances are slim. I’ve already applied there and I’m awaiting for my transcripts to be sent to the school. I only want to see what the community, collegeconfidential, think of my chances of this school.
I’ve been really stressed about my grades because I have found out too late that I’m going to turn out to be a failure in getting into a college which was during Junior year. I switched schools couple of times which kinda affected my grades a bit.

I’ve been thinking about community college too, but I’d rather try a four year college.
I did apply to community colleges though heh, just in case.

Just a quick glance at UIC:

25% in top 10th of graduating class
61% in top quarter of graduating class
94% in top half of graduating class
ACT Composite: middle 50%: 21 - 26 98%

Admission requirements for transfers:
Required of All: College Transcript(s)
Not Required: High School Transcript, Standardized Test Scores, Statement of good standing from Prior Institutions(s), Interview

I kind of don’t understand what those percentile and graduating class and all that stuff means. heh.
I’m sending in a SAT score of a 1440- which is 20 I believe for ACT.

I’m not a transfer- but a undergraduate and I’ve already sent in all my LOR, Essay, Application. Just waiting for the transcripts to be sent.

The classes that I’m taking aren’t impressive either… senior year classes -
Human Autonomy and Physiology
Issues in science and society
Intro to psych
Intro to socio
AI
Gothic Lit
World Lit
Pre Calc…

the 98% shouldn’t have been part of the cut and paste. That was 98% of students submit scores. But your HS transcripts are not required to transfer there. Go to CC for two years, get good grades and transfer to UIC.

So you’re guessing that I won’t get in at all?
Guess I’ll be looking at CC’s now.
Alrighty, thanks for the chancing =]

University of Illinois at Chicago - ?

you are definitely in the CUNY and SUNY schools, not sure about the other schools though

chance me back please
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/829040-chance-me-friends.html

I’m not saying that because WE don’t know! I don’t like this “chancing” thing. I think you need to do research on the schools you want check out sites like this to see who is getting in and send apps if you have ANY chance. Let’s say you have a 10% chance (I’m making that up - it is not an opinion). That means that if 100 of you apply, 10 will get in. Be one of those 10! Sell yourself in your essay! Good luck to you!

UIC will be hard, maybe unlikely. The rest you have a very good chance.

Thanks so much for the chances.
If anyone can give me a little info on how UIC accepts their applicants, that would be nice…
I really want to go there.

Is UIC that much of a reach for me

BUMPing, sorry.

If you haven’t applied to UIC by now, do so ASAP. The preferred date has already come and gone.
UIC is a reach for you. Your GPA is below average. UIC does not receive too many SAT scores, so they don’t report them. The average ACT score is a 24. Another issue is that you are not an IL resident. UIC subscribes to the policy of dousing the OOSers. Again, UIC does not have too many OOSers on the undergrad level. It is maybe 3% of the total population.
The average UIC student is someone hanging at about the 75th high school percentile rank. You are looking an above average student, but not in the absolute top of his/her class.

I have already applied, just my transcripts are being sent and it’s getting there so slow. ):
Blah, above average…
Thank you so much…
bump.

Bump! Sorry , just tryna get feedback

bumps UIC hehe >,<
