Chance me for a chance back!

I am a white female from a wealthy suburb.

Here are my stats:
Unweighted: 3.88
Weighted: 4.3

SAT taking in January but based on all practice tests expecting 650 in math around 700’s in english. Taking it once that will be taking it again in January.

Only 2 APs were offered this year, neither fit into my schedule… I take all honors besides for math. how much will no Aps hurt me/limit schools I can get into? I plan to take 1-2 next year. My school has a very renowned rep we constantly rank in the top 5 of the state, but AP program is not that big since honor courses are so rigorous.

ECs-
Tutor low income students- 2X a week
Reading tutor in impoverished school- 1X a week

Racial Awareness Program
Teaching assistant in Autistic Acting Class
Founder of Current Events Club
President of Current Events Club

Schools I wish to apply to:
Emory (would prob do ED)
University of Michigan (EA)
Wisconsin Madison (EA)
Tulane (EA)
GW
Syracuse (sister goes here)
Wash U
Lehigh

I have some safeties (syracuse, indiana, uvm, penn state).

Please comment and chance me on the schools I listed, thanks for reading. I’ll chance u back!! (:

I think you have a chance of getting into all of these schools-- your grades are definitely within the range, though Wash. U. might be a reach. Emory is definitely a possibility for you, especially if you do end up doing ED. You have great extracurriculars! They seem to be really focused as well. What about leadership positions? If you don’t do many APs, that won’t hurt you especially if your school didn’t offer many and or/ they couldn’t fit into your schedule. That’s completely fine! Make sure you write a great essay.Think about your “hook.”, and ask some teachers who really know you for recs. What are you thinking of majoring in? Based on your ECs I would guess maybe political science or international studies :).

I am going to copy & paste my post here. Please chance me for Brown :).

I’m currently a junior, and I am a girl who would like to study either mechanical engineering or biomedical engineering. I was born in Iraq and I moved to the United States when I was 8 years old. I am a pretty much a straight A student–all of my final year grades have been As except for a 92 in Honors Geometry sophomore year. I am not sure how to calculate GPA but I think my weighted GPA would be above a 4.0 and my unweighted would be a 3.9. My GPA out of a 100 is a 96.3 unweighted and a 97.5 weighted.

As for extracurriculars, I do Inkwell (my school’s literary and arts magazine), costumes and cast bios for Drama club, Robotics, the Science Bowl, Civil Rights Team, Student Government, French Honor Society, National Honor Society, tutoring, and Science and Technology Club. In addition, I also do Arabic lessons after school. I also do an original science research project every year for my science research class and I participate in my statewide science fair each year. I won first in the Biological Sciences and Engineering category last year as well as an award from the American Psychological Association my freshman year. I have also gotten a gold key for the scholastic writing awards.

For leadership positions, next year I will be head of robotics and head of research for my science research class. I am editor-and-chief of Inkwell, co-captain of the civil rights team, head editor/writer for cast bios in Drama club, and co-head of the academics committee for student government. I will also probably run for a leadership position for the national honors society. Also co-captain for science bowl team.

I have not taken the SAT yet, but based on practice tests and my PSAT score, I am within the range for Brown. I plan on taking the SAT subject test for Biology and Math II. I’m top 10% for my class, definitely top 10 as well.

Over the course of my high school career, I will have taken 9 honors classes, 1 IB HL class, and 7 AP classes. My course load has been pretty rigorous with the exception of my freshman year (only took 2 honors classes).

So what do you think? haha. I can right a pretty rockin’ essay so I’m banking on that (and my past, to an extent, being an immigrant and all).

I think you have a great shot at Brown. Great credentials! I would recommend if you want to increase chances definitely applying Single choice early action. Also, to indicate interest if you know it is your number one choice I would recommend looking into possible summer programs (classes for 2 weeks, etc), this shows you are very interested and that you have been on campus!

You’ll probably get into most of your colleges. Emory is a reach for most people, but your GPA and other stats are well within competitive range. Having current family members at a college boosts your chances a little, so that’s good. If you build your application around humanities/social justice, you’ll be a strong contender.

As other commenters, I think you have a great chance at every school you are looking into, just work really hard at your essays and tie them in with the picture you are portraying through the rest of your application!

I think you will get into all of these schools. Your gpa and ecs are great. Hopefully your test scores will turn out nicely but I think your application as of now is very solid. Great work and good luck! http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1939359-chance-me-please.html#latest
