Chance me for a cookie

Hi all! I know you hate chance threads haha but I'd really appreciate some feedback. Also I would love to give you all cookies but unfortunately it's not possible over the internet...

*Notes: I have two Cs--one from geometry freshman year first semester, and one from my second semester junior year in honors math analysis (clearly I am not a math person lol). Will this affect me? The one from geometry was a difficult adjustment to high school, and I had family problems at the end of my junior year which is why I got the C. I am taking six AP classes this year.

Top choices are Dietrich and Heinz :)

Thanks guys!

Carnegie mellon doesn’t look at freshman year grades. Your ECs are pretty decent, class rank is very good however your SAT is weak: your critical reading score will definitely pull you down. Definitely retake the SAT in November. Your math score is ok, but most kids applying to Carnegie mellon will have middle 700 CR and math scores and plenty with 800s or very close in one or both of those sections. If you can really raise your SAT scores and get solid 700s on your SAT IIs then you would have an above average chance. Good luck to you

show you’re passionate about something and write good essays and you’re in :)

Heinz college is only for grad students. I’m just a fellow applicant, but I think you have a very good chance at DC. As cortana431 said, Carnegie Mellon ignores freshman grades so you’re GPA should be much higher. You’re grades in math will only hurt you if you’re applying for econ, and even then they might not be that much of a problem.

You’re biggest problem however are SATs. Carnegie Mellon really cares about Math II and the SAT Math. In fact, the interquartile range for DC is 680-780. If you’re not planning to retake the SAT, which I would highly suggest, then get a good score on the SAT II Math (like 750 or higher).

BTW, you CAN give us cookies over the internet. Just set up a website and track the users accessing it (using cookies, get it?). Corny CS joke FTW.
